My RC engineers are definitely roomier than any others I've owned. Not too roomy, but definitely none of the discomfort I've had in the instep like Lofgren or Wesco (in which cases I just needed a bigger size). Makes sense I haven't had any issues though, seeing they were MTO. Only wee complaint is a bit of heel slip, but that's sorta par for the course for pull-on boots, and I could probably fix it pretty easily with an insole.
-
@Daniel-San tbh I think getting them second hand is the way to go, if you can end up finding a pair that fits. Dealing with RC is not the greatest experience.

@popvulture
I work on it
but not so easy to find a good pair in almost new condition or slightly used -
You would think, but I know a handful who were measured in person. Regardless, I’m not talking badly about him. I just think it’s a little tricky. Beyond having your feet measured by someone, you really have to educate them on your feet and where you typically feel tightness with certain footwear. Simply pulling a tape, even though it seems like it should work, does not always tell the full story for some feet.
-
@northsouthdenimguy I'd agree with this, as my experience with getting measured at RC reflects exactly that. They're comfortable boots and they fit me pretty well, but are they the dialed-in fit I'd expect from $2K+ custom boots? Far from it.
I don't love talking smack about companies, and I don't think Brian's worthy of full-on ire or anything, but I will most certainly say that my process left quite a bit to be desired.

The longer I’m in this boot world, the more I realize that some lasts are simply more suited to certain feet than others, regardless of whether they’re made to measure or not.
At this point, I would only buy one of his RTW boots or an unworn or very lightly worn secondhand pair. From the people I’ve talked to, I’m not convinced his measuring process and approach to fit really match my feet.
-
Two people could have a pair of boots that fit exactly the same and they’ll be comfortable for one and not the other. Apparently the first pair of bespoke shoes with a maker won’t be perfect, it’s the second when it gets dialed in.
@Daniel-San beautiful boots, shame they don’t work for you.
-
I bought mine from him a little big. They weren't MTO... they were a pair that another customer never picked up. I tried a few insoles, then once I found the right thickness... it was perfect. What I really love to call Brian for is re-soles. He has custom soles and can just take an old boot and give it a really fresh and exciting new life.

Unbelievable but after more than 2 month my boots arrived , but they don’t fit

unfortunately they are too tight at the instep area.If they fit everywhere besides the tightness in the instep. You could easily get that stretched. I picked up a second hand pair off ebay. They were sold as 11.5 and the box was marked 11.5 but they fit more like an 10.5 both in length and width. I did have Brian resole them and when I got them back I stretched them a bit width wise and they are much more comfortable now.

@smittybat
did a cobbler strech them ?
