I was looking for a nice alternative to my Last & Loom beanie and tried the Northport first but its triple fold was so uncomfortably thick and felt restricting on me so I ended up with this:

It's the Parkman and it is also made of 100% wool. Very comfortable and soft. BTW its pin is easily detachable and the hat is made in Germany. What do you guys wear from them?

The Gulfport model made for Meyer the Hatter of New Orleans, as seen in Playa del Carmen. More of a Panama than a Western style, and designed to work with sunglasses. Don't miss Meyer if you are lucky enough to find yourself in NOLA, been doing the deal for well over a century (that's a long time for 'Murica).

Thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. Stetson Modena.

I stitched this patch onto a Stetson trucker cap while waiting in the queue for oasis tickets

@Dion Noticed the northport beanie at a shop due to the big fold and softness like you mentioned and 100% wool. Had no clue about the brand, so didn't buy it immediately but after bit of research indicating they seem to make well made products. Went back and got the northport you mentioned. The big triple fold was what I was looking for, since I am really only looking for not having my ears cold.

I took the recommendation of @mclaincausey to visit this fantastic shop. Could not be happier with the Gulfport as my first straw hat! Had an exceptional experience chatting with the 4th Generation Michael Meyer and admiring his silver bracelets in this storied hatter.

@SourPower I went in there with a bunch of people who visibly frustrated him by not understanding how to pick a hat that fits. I saw the Gulfport, picked it up and put it on and said “I’ll take this one.” He checked the fit and said “ok this guy knows how to fit a hat.”
