@Nick thanks for the info. We got one for the kids but I want one for Mario kart and donkey Kong country. Also looking forward to the new enter the gungeon. We enjoyed the switch 1 and this one looks like a huge improvement.

@ZackB The online discourse has and will always be a mess re: Nintendo, mostly for their bad PR. Lots of people saying it's just a Switch 1.5. Bit harsh that.

Anyways, they know how to make classic brilliant video games and Switch 2 is an upgrade. Donkey Kong Bonanza is digital crack.

60fps should be the basic on any new tech and they deliver. Obv OLED would have been nice but the screen is actually extremely good and 1080p on device, 4k on your tv (if supported).

        Defo worth the purchase.

Read mixed reviews on Vampire Bloodlines 2. May just go back and re-play the original Bloodlines

@Nick thanks for the info man! We loved the switch 1. Definitely not a serious gamer but Mario kart and donkey Kong country make it worth it to me. Good to hear some first hand experience.

Got the platinum on BALLxPIT last night. The game is a blast, but dangerously moreish. Playing it last weekend, I thought it could only be midnight at the latest, but it was actually 2:30am. Figuring out how to make completely broken builds that just delete all the enemies on screen was good fun. Highly recommended for the asking price of £12.

Now back to Yotei with Powerwash Simulator 2 as a more relaxed second option. I've only had a quick dabble in the latter, the visuals are far better, and they've added animations for the powerwasher which make everything seem more immersive. I will try digging in the settings to see if there is an option to revert to the control scheme of PwS1 though, as the new button layout is seriously messing with my head.

@Tago-Mago Yeah, a shame about Bloodlines 2, but a mixed game is a fairly regular outcome when a project gets passed between multiple studios like it was.

              Take the dive...

That BALLxPIT looks like a rush.

Vampire Survivors by the way, if anyone hasn't, you should. Mad addictive.

I need to pull the trigger with Clair Obscur, mainly because it's so highly rated (and obviously very good in terms of story, design etc). Arc Raiders is defo something that I find appealing (more so than Battlefield 6). I'm unsure how much time I can commit to an online game though with everything else I want to play.

I completed Ghost of Yotei. Loved it. Pacing was perfect and the open world often emergent. Felt like I was playing through a peak television series.

So Death Stranding 2 awaits for me to return to it (I'm about 77% through it). And Cyberpunk (I'm near the end but have a fair chunk of the DLC to complete).

                        But...video games gonna video game.

I want to grab Dispatch (only 10-12 hours to play through) + Tears of the Kingdom. Dispatch is from same devs that were involved with TellTale. Very much an interactive experience where you enjoy the story (and make decisions along the way).

@SKT it's a great game. It's perfect for anyone who likes extraction shooters but without the constant fear of "losing it all" because there's a minimal loadout you allways get. Also the community is very welcoming and in single lobbies most players just do their thing and sometimes team up with you even. Duo/trio can be harder but it's still lots of fun

I've been (very) slowly making my way through a replay of Red Dead Redemption 2. Then I picked up Gran Turismo 7, so a bit of car racing too.

But my brother recently got himself a Switch 2 and I inherited his Switch 1, thought I'd play some Zelda and Mario. Then I found out 2 of my most favourite games ever are available for Switch, when I thought they weren't available on any modern consoles: Portal 1 and Portal 2! That's me sorted for a while! They were even on sale for AUD$8! Happy Christmas to me.

To echo what's already been mentioned...ARC Raiders.

                              I'm obsessed.

Never been someone for PvP online games (it's actually PvPvE) but this is a phenomenal gaming experience. I'm only level 20 (75 is current cap). Got so much to do in game, loot, blueprints, workbenches, upgrades, quests and so on.

Community is immense and the game is very solo friendly - often having raiders look after each other when attempting to extract. Game looks and plays so well and there's genuine tension when out in the world thanks to some excellent AI (Arc) enemies. Maps are also very good - and include cold snaps, storms, night raids and other modifiers. The devs at Embark Studios have given us something special here.

The camaraderie is great like I said - but there's always a chance a 'rat' (lol) will shoot you in the back.
