Okay you guys are all unanimous. I guess as long as everyone feels confident the 33 will give a little bit in the waist with wear (it's a bit uncomfortable when sitting down right now), I'll go for it
-
I'm curious about this as well. Will the waist stretch anymore past pre-wash measurements? Will the thighs relax/stretch anymore past pre-wash measurements?
-
Well I went back today and every staff member at Self Edge recommended the 34 so against this board's advice that's what I went for. Hopefully it's not too big. I do feel like I absolutely want to be able to tuck in a flannel so if that means they'll be a little loose with nothing tucked in I can just tighten my belt. When I get them back from hemming and a first wash I'll be sure to post a pic!

@schraiber My first pair of Iron Hearts were from Self Edge, which I bought in store in a size 36 at the instance of their staff that it was my correct size. I sized down to a 34 a month later and have been enjoying my correct 34 ever since.
-
@Go-For-Chill the funny thing is my first pair, my 21oz 888, I also got at Self Edge and went with the 33 over the 34 at the advice of the staff saying the 34 was too big. I still sorta wish I had gone with the 34. That was a few years ago so obviously desires in fit have changed since then so that explains some of the difference, but I do think it's funny.

I need a fit check here. I'm pretty sure I should sell these off because the top block looks big to me. The waist is just floating, not snug, not too loose. The seat/hips might be too roomy. Definitely going for a slim fit. Other cuts are too small in the thighs for me. These will basically stretch right back to where it is now or more, right?

-
@jpvisual Imo they look like they’d fit well after minor shrinkage. Those look slimmer on you pre-soak than a lot of other folks I’ve seen. If you want them real slim tho, you may be right.
-
@jpvisual. Yes they will stretch to pre soak measurements. So if they feel lose now nothing much will change in the long run.
-
@jpvisual those look money dude! They will tighten up in that top block after a wash. The waist will come in too.
The waist will only stretch out as much as you body puts pressure on it. Meaning, just because they have the capacity to stretch back out to presoak measurements and beyond, they will only do so if they are tight and you body is putting enough pressure on them to stretch out that much. -
Thanks for the advice all. @yannis is probably about right. Yeah most of what I'm reading says they'll be about the same as post soak/wash. Definitely not into how these are fitting in the top block and I do have room to size down to a smaller measurement for the waist, just not the thighs. I'll be selling these. Another one bites the dust.
-
@jpvisual The jeans are new, so they don't fit as well as I would like. When creases appear during use, the jeans will fit properly.
-
@jpvisual I think they look really good. They will shrink if washed hot and will not stretch back out uniformly. The waist and other places will stretch back out but most of the top block will not.
-
@jpvisual I think they look good. New 25oz always drapes in a way that makes them look slightly big, but they settle after a few wears.
-
Thanks for the replies all. Seems like you're all in camp @Mizmazzle . The waist stretching out is not as much of a concern as the top block front & seat stretching right back to what it is now. I'm certainly on the fence though.
-
I know it goes against the grain but I never was able to get along with a pair of jeans that started loose to begin with. It never got any better. All is personal preference and how you like your jeans to look. I have made a pair that was a little tight in the beginning to fit me nicely(a little is the operative word) but I was never able to do anything with a pair that started loose. It just got worse with wear.
-
@yannis that has been my experience with jeans, jackets and shirts so far. If it doesn't fit the way I want it from the jump it won't improve with wear and washing. I've already learned the hard way a few times. If I need to ask everyone on here if it's a good fit it's most likely not, but I still do it anyway
. I've surrendered to the fact that this is the deal and it's always been worth the extra hassle when I get the fit I'm after. -
3 months down in IIY5.

Can anybody who has significant wear experience of that 25oz beast tell me if it ever softens at all? I wear mine for quite a bit of time and gained some distinguishable fade, but there is still not even a hint on softening, it is still feels like a fire hose on the body. Is it the way it's meant to be? Thank you all in advance for your replies.
-
@Yoprst. Yes they soften up significantly with wear. If you are very active the process is shorter if not takes longer.
