Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome(Year 5)
-
@Mizmazzle those look great! Boot and leather ID?
-
@Bobcat-Sig These are Lofgren's in the Badalassi Grigio leather.
-
@Mizmazzle Sweet, thanks. I would've guessed JL, but that Badalassi leather looks much different than the product shots. Looks better in person and after some wear.
-
@Bobcat-Sig thanks man. I agree. I just hope it doesn’t turn into a pure brown and holds some
Of the green as it ages. -
Some photos from week before last at Stitchdown Boot Camp in Chicago and I couldn’t help myself I did order a pair of those Addict side zips

-
The Grant Stone side zips that are coming out that are pretty cool(true to size) Last pic
They had a half down that I tried on, even though I could tell they’d be super comfortable. I’ve yet to buy a Grant Stone but if I did, it would be one of these. basically a way better fitting comfortable Jonah Roper from Lucchese(imo as I had one)
The green boot is Isaac’s(Grants Brother)from Unsung, his Dome boot.
The Service boot I believe is Oldspeed Manufacturing. Not sure about the red one we were just trying to do a Christmas photo.

I’ll be posting more photos later for the December submission window (1st–5th), but it’s wild how vibrant this dark-blue indigo transfer is on the tongue, at least it is in person.

-
Nice crocking @northsouthdenimguy
I put these in the Dome a month late always wanted some unstructured toe engineers.
They’re The Keeper 2 by Benzein now BriselBlack in Shinki Natural Oiled Horsebutt Overdyed Brown.
Less than a week old.
-
@Gammaman amazing looking boots! I wish my Attractions would have an unstructured toebox, would make them even more comfortable. Hows the sizing on these?
-
@Gammaman
please share more pics
they look stunning! -
These look fantastic I’ve always been a fan of that makers engineers, so good!
I’ll find them on the patina app so I can follow their progress…

-
They’re true size @FlavourFade

-
Submitted the December photos the other day was going to wait to shoot them outside but running out of time and desire…
It’s been insanely wet and muddy on all my sites, so these have been taking a real beating. By the time April rolls around, they’ll definitely be ready for a resole, but it’s definitely one I’ll keep wearing for years

-
Honestly, it’s kind of lost its initial sparkle. I didn’t do the very first year the one that was a little cobbled together but the second and third years were really fun. Last year it already felt like things were starting to wane, and this year it seems like a lot of the people who used to be really involved and vocal (in a good way) just aren’t anymore.
Even if you’re on the Stitchdown premium Discord, there’s just not a whole lot going on there especially on the thunderdome channel.
I’ve got my theories. I’ve been around long enough and involved in enough Domes to see the patterns. I think a lot of people are just burned out, and honestly, it feels like there are a few folks who are pretty much guaranteed to win because of their industry presence. It takes some of the fun out of it.
I really like Ben and I think he does an amazing job with stitchdown and I enjoy what he’s built. Not a dig against him I think it’s just what happens in these type of contests. Also, I think he could be a little more active on his discord, it really drives engagement every time he pops on there…Regardless of all that, I usually wear the same pair of boots for work for months until they need a resole, so this is something I do anyway, I’m just documenting it for the dome with a chance of winning something.
-
@northsouthdenimguy good insights there for sure.
Just documenting this Badalassi Grigio (who I I don’t see any really pushed examples of) was my initial focus too. Kind of don’t even want to pay the $5 a month to be a member tho anymore, either.
-
It’s my first one just enjoying all the leathers and how different people treat them.
