My overalls have these psychedelic electric blue fades happening all over. I am amazed. Also, it seems like the filthier these get the more insanely soft they get. I was looking at the denim through a magnifying glass in the sun recently and I couldn't believe the sheen and color composition of the denim. It is like an infinite spectrum of blues and prismatic rainbows all over in the sun. Stuff like this makes me believe in God.
I was just reading though this thread today and came across this quote from Mike. What an absolute fecking star child he was. I love seeing his posts all over this forum, especially ones I haven't read or forgot reading.

@myk1098 Is that a Spyderco Slysz Bowie I spy in the pocket?
-
@myk1098 Oh, and in answer to your question, it should be an easy enough fix if a button rips out. Just need to sew a patch of fresh denim behind the tear and hammer in a replacement bachelor button through that reinforcing patch. I actually just did that repair on my pair of 634S-B the other day.
-
@myk1098 Oh, I just used a cheapo Dritz bachelor button. Super easy to install. For the patch, I used some denim from the offcuts I'd saved when I got 'em hemmed. Sewed it on with sashiko thread. Not the prettiest work ever, but functional, at least!
Here's a couple of pics of the repair , front and back.

That's a fine knife, ay! I sold mine years ago for about 3x what I paid for it to fund a new instrument purchase. So it goes!
Edit: I just checked out of curiosity, and it wasn't 3x what I paid. But it was a lot more than I paid. And enough for the instrument, so...

@nurunuru you are pretty handy with the repairs, as for the knife you sold it for more, gains is gains, also I think they released an updated S Bowie with a liner over travel thing like a 2.0 version at knifejoy.com

@myk1098 Yeah, I saw that new blue one. Don't care for it as much as the OG, though. The finish on the blade is just so pretty on the original. Something special, for sure.
These days I just rock a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt as my EDC. None of my other knives get a look-in anymore. Once you start carrying a knife that weighs 1.3oz, won't rust, and is still reasonably capable, it's kinda tough to go back!

@Mizmazzle yes Sir! Trip to the Tailor worth it
