IHSH-62-IND - 12oz Wabash Western Shirt - Indigo
-
I had a chance to see this fabric in person at SE PDX recently. Prior, I dismissed it on some incorrect assumptions. The blue is deep and the bleach dots are a super interesting detail. So I went out and found one from another stockist. SE was out of my size.
A large should show up next week and I’m anxious to see how it fits. I know these can run big and I tend to be a Large or XL, depending on the fabrics. Stoked!

@Bobcat-Sig Love this fabric!
Personally I would love to see it without the wabash dots as well, as in straight up indigo or black. "The undotted".

I'm so bummed! I ordered what I thought was an in-stock shirt from Iron Shop Provisions. Turns out, it was an error on their part, and the shirt wasn't in stock. Major bummer. Especially when I was holding out for this shirt instead of the turquoise check shirt that just dropped. But I digress...
However, they do have a medium in stock. I know some of you here rolled the dice with a size smaller than your usual IH shirting. I'm a tag L in most western cuts, save for the selvage flannel and vintage black denim, where I went tag XL. Do I roll the dice and go tag M on this shirt?
-
@Bobcat-Sig This shirt does fit a little larger than my other IH mediums, but maybe not a full size down. It seems mostly bigger around in the waist and sleeves, but not so much in the chest and shoulder width.
-
@indigo_fades Good to know. I did not exercise patience and opted for the medium. Channeling my Iron Heart sizing by measurement (and not tag), all measurables seem to be right in the sweet spot, save for the shoulder, which was about an inch to half an inch shorter than usual. YOLO amirite?
We'll see how it fits when it shows up.

The shirt arrived yesterday. My first purchase with Iron Shop Provisions, and they were great. I sized down, looking at the measurements, and it seems to fit well... save for the pits. I usually focus on the chest/pit-ot-pit measurement, as that usually ensures I have enough around the body there to make it work, and while this particular shirt measures out well there, the shoulder measurement is a little shorter than normal when looking at other shirts.
I know fit can be a personal preference and that measurements don't always tell the story. How much tightness, if at all, do you tolerate? Or is it a sign of pit tightness that the shirt is sized incorrectly?
-
@Bobcat-Sig this shirt is gonna get some shrink when you wash it...something to be aware of.
-
@Mizmazzle I was hoping you wouldn't say that.

I almost always wash these shirts in cold water, gentle cycle, no spin, and line dry. Is shrinkage expected, even with that level of care? -
@Bobcat-Sig that’s how I’ve ways washed mine too. I recall it coming in maybe 1/2” in shoulder and maybe a touch more in the chest. Wish I had some measurement data for ya. Thought I might have posted my initial wash info back in the thread a few years back.
-
@Bobcat-Sig sorry buddy. Looks like I actually gave mine a hot wash to tighten it up a bit. So you should probably be much better off than I implied. Sorry for the scare.
Here’s my wash data if ya care to see:

@Mizmazzle no worries. I appreciate you coming in and sharing your data.
All these cool and unique fabrics certainly make things more interesting, even if it can be a lot to keep straight.

@Bobcat-Sig “Safety Third!?” You a Panic fan??

This is definitely the largest of my IH shirts, it's the first one I got and I should have sized down to a M. I only have one other L (a tonal denim western) and that is at least a half size smaller. The Wabash is the only one of my IH shirts that I have to turn the sleeves up on.
-
@Mizmazzle Yep, I did that. It shrunk a little, but not quite enough. I wear it as an overshirt now, taking advantage of the extra room.
