52 mil for walking away…

Obviously I am not sure what he did specifically to his employee(s), and I don't like him, but that payout is peanuts against the value delivered under his tenure, and I think he deserves a lot of credit for that value. Under his regime, 6 WCC and 8 WDC would have yielded a lot of direct revenue (esp WCC, but maybe there were some WDC bonuses too). Just thinking in terms of prize money his team earned Red Bull probably easily 10X that, and then there would be less direct but meaningful contributions such as their success drawing in more sponsors willing to pay more money to be associated with cars that have more prestige and get more airtime to show their logos.
So it might sound beyond the pale at first blush, but to me it is far more reasonable than most of the high level CEO payouts we see.
-
Seems like the Horner thing was just pure drama. I personally don't know and don't care what the circumstances were, but I do think think they did him pretty dirty relative to how little they revealed. At least that payout didn't downplay his contributions.
-
Oh, and it was great to see Sainz back on the podium!!!
Max is an absolute animal. Not to say McLaren's luck has run out, but I think they're realizing just how fortunate they've been so far this season.
-
RIP Roscoe, legendary F1 grid dog. I'll switch it up this weekend and root for HAM for a change, he needs a win.

-
Yeah I’d love to see him win.
Watching him throw his career away going to Ferrari has been as sad as it has been predictable.
Prove the world wrong, Ferrari.
-
would def like to see Ferrari firing on all cylinders to finish off the season.
Wonder if McLaren will get it back together to hold off Max, who seems more pleased with the car than he’s been all season.
I’m sure they’ll clinch the wdc in Singapore but surely 100% of their efforts are for 2026 now (as are the rest) but there’s still a lot of potential for Max making it difficult all the way till the end. -
I know it is not technically possible to oppose him, because like all power hungry twats, he's made it impossible for any one to actually meet the criteria. But I would give my right testicle if someone other than him could win, if only so that I would never have to see that
perm/dye job/amazingly natural mallens streakhair again....

This guy is like a proper Bond villain
-
@Giles I hold him and the other MBS in similar regard and find they deserve their roles and are responsible stewards of them equally little.
Wife and I going to our first F1 race in CDMX with dear friends, visiting CDMX also for the first time, and then Sayulita after that just with the wife. Not a bad Fiftieth getaway!
-
fak off, F1TV....Just got the official notice from F1 that they'll be dropping service in the US, and F1TV will be available ONLY with an AppleTV subscription.
-
Wow, what a sprint

-
@WhiskeySandwich I haven’t had a chance to watch the coverage yet. I flew out of Austin (where I live) for a wedding and happened to see the Porsche Supercup qualifying out the window while taking off from the airport. It’s always a fun time when F1 comes to Texas!
-
No comment on the race, just here to say that David Croft is a terrible commentator. Every race he waffles on about something that isn’t actually happening. „ooh, George Russell catching Oscar at a rate of knots.“ no you idiot, that’s Kimi Antonelli. Granted, they drive the same car, but the car in front was very obviously not orange
-
Cue Jaws theme. Hoping Norris wins but here for it if the best driver of his generation wins another.
-
I'm looking forward to seeing who wins the Driver's this year, it's becoming a red-hot proper competition. I want Oscar to win, it's my patriotic allegiance. I'd be happy if Lando won, because he's been in the fight the whole time and is a great driver. And if Max wins then it proves just how excellent he is to come back so strongly late in the season.
As for the race today, it was a bit of a letdown after the excitement of the Sprint race.

@Tago-Mago
this is why I listen to Jolyon and Alex, their analysis is on point, even if the camera happens to look at the wrong battle half the time. -
Tip of the cap to the prancing horse. Got the strategy right (unusually).
