We didn't talk about it, sorry. He constantly makes tweaks to production without telling us, I would assume this is one of those cases. I have not noticed any hem roll on my shirts from this year.

I love how almost everything I've wondered about already has a thread dedicated to answering my question before I've asked. I'm battling with whether or not to embrace the roll on my Wabash shirts, because I iron them along a lot, but the heat seems to create extra unnecessary wear on the edges that stand out the most. I dislike the hem roll, but I also dislike additional wear. What a conundrum. Maybe I'll sew on a seam band on the interior to hold it in place, like @jay-cy posted.
