  • Inchmaster

Don‘t know if this is the right board chapter… - if not, please move properly.

I‘d just like to report my experiences with the Inchmaster waist expander and ask for similar experiences.

Background is, my 777-UHR has become a little tight in the waist. Either I gained some weight or it it shrank too much. It was still in the period of breaking in, so just two soaks and some wear.
Nevertheless, at the end I wasn‘t really able to close it without some efforts and squeezing myself in. Wear was not really comfortable.

So I stumbled across the Inchmaster (German: Bunddehner) available for around 20 €/$/£ at several sources in the internet. There are several brands but it seems to be the same device. It had enough good reviews to give it at least a try.

I was a bit sceptical if this plastic device could handle the 23oz. double waist band of the UHR beast.
To make it short: it can!

Action is quite easy: Simply wet the waistband, put the device in and stretch stepwise. Keep wet during the stretching period. I did this repeatedly for 6 hours and let dry over night with the Inchmaster in.

I gained about an inch in the waist so now I am able to close and wear it comfortably.

So this little thing works quite well even with heavy denim.

And it is good to know that there is a little „backup“ when jeans or other pants become a bit tight in the waist  😎

So maybe this is useful for others.

Any other experiences with this thing?

Best wishes and a sunny weekend!

That’s also what I would recommend… wear it as much as possible. It’s rather stiff and boxy in the beginning but starts to conform to your body shape as well as it develops folds, rolls and wrinkles at the right places.
Plus you have enough room for layering with UHFs and IHW-01s...

Also got myself an old version. And yes, the new clasp offers more flexibility with respect to turning it up- and downwards. I think the old version was connected to a normal chain link whereas the new clasp is connected to a dedicated chain link.

Model A… simply great stuff  😉

  • RE: Who makes the best waxed cotton jacket?

    +1 for Ship John!
Built like a tank and most propably the most sturdy jacket on the planet.
Dehen also makes decent waxed field and club jackets.

    yes, of course!  😉
But getting things from the US into Germany always adds a significant amount to the price tag.
In addition, I sold a jacket to a nice guy in the US via this forum 4 weeks ago. It‘s still on its way, half the time in the US… USPS. Maybe a single „S“ makes the big difference...  😶

    800 import threshold?
Wow, that’s great! I think the threshold for Germany is 50 Euros or so for VAT and 150 for customs…  😢

  • RE: Why do Iron Heart Shirts Hems Roll Upwards and Outwards?

    jep, material thickness certainly matters!
I also have shirts of also substantial thickness in which the hem is „countered“ by a seam band sewn from the other side. This seems to avoid the roll-up…

that corresponds to what I found.
So it should be a general issue with folded curved hems…

With my shirts it’s also mor pronounced on the heavier twills and denims. The chambray is rather flat…
