I’ve had this on my list for a long ass time but I finally had to pull the trigger because it was about to sell out and I didn’t want to wait a year. It’s perfect on the bike. Can’t wait for it to soften up even more

This denim may be discontinued. We are having big issues with the production, and I am in talks with Japan about it currently. It would be a major bummer, but - we are talking specifically about the Superblack Non-Selvedge.

Sadly this is now confirmed. The mill was forced to move the production to a different type of loom, and it created visual bumps in the fabric as a result. Haraki is not willing, rightly so, to make what he considered B/C grade denim, so we have come to the agreement to discontinue making this denim. There are still some production runs in the works, and we will hopefully still release those as planned with the A grade denim, but if that changes we will let you know.

Moving forward, as we have done with jeans already, the IH-9526PJ, IH-9527J and IH-9526V will be superseded by the Superblack Selvedege Denim. Accessories will move across too, at some point, but we have more flexibility to make these from B grade denim as we need smaller sections.

Overdyeing it indigo would be pretty cool. I would definitely want to step up my dye and purchase higher quality indigo. But I am not sure yet if I want to do that. First, I will keep sun bleaching it to see how light it will go.

Update on the sun bleach experiment. The vest was left undisturbed on my roof for another couple of months. The Appalachian sun has continued to do its thing. It was quite dirty from rainstorms and spiderwebs, so I threw it in an extended wash. This is how it came out, surprisingly:

Pretty weird, huh? Went from pristine silver-white to almost an acid wash like visual texture. Maybe the dye bled in the wash is my guess.

This is so cool. I really liked the pure silver look pre wash. Then the acid wash effect is so interesting. The black under the pocket flaps…so much craziness going on.
