Red Wing Shoes

My Redwings after their spring cleaning and re-conditioning. I’ve had the Engineers for over 30 years now. I use them exclusively for riding. Lots of miles, several re-soles and a couple of repairs. But still excellent. I bought the Iron Rangers in 2007 - when they were re-released. They saw minimal use until this last year - when I finally got the toe boxes stretched a bit. I’m wearing them regularly now. The 606s are only a couple years old. This is my second pair of 606s. I find them very comfortable.
-
@SFMCfranky Nice! the engineers are in good shape considering their age/use. Iron rangers are looking great!
-
@NorvilleRogers My Merchant's are the snuggest fit and my Rover and 4585 Logger are a lot more spacious but they both feel different to each other as well. I wear a Darn Tough full cushion sock in those but would be too snug in the Merchant.
-
@cosmic55 … I got myself a boot stretcher. I wasn’t particularly hopeful, but it actually worked quite well. My little pinky toe is very grateful!

@NorvilleRogers no IRs to compare with but I have two pairs of harvesters and the brown is definitely narrower than the black. Still, both are comfortable in their own way and I guess some variation is normal.
I feel like that goes for all modern Red Wings. I wear moc toes and I’ve found that two pair in the same color in the same size will fit totally different. I’m to the point that I almost won’t buy them unless I can try them on first.
-
@Go-For-Chill I’m the same with most footwear - trying on is the way unless it’s impossible or I have learned from experience that a particular last/size combo always works for me.

Love me some Rovers. Found this new pair of Copper 2950s and figured I should since the model doesn’t seem to be coming back.
-
@WhiskeySandwich its a shame but they've seem to discontinue all their round toe models..
-
@louisbosco yeah that’s why I was on the hunt before the resale market dries up. These were made 2021, and I guess that’s around the time they quit.
As far as the flat sole models, I like the Mocs but the No.8 last just works better for me. -
@WhiskeySandwich my first pair was a 8165 that I’ve had since about 2010. Then had a 9111 a few years after. Wanted to get a suede pair recently but couldn’t find much
-
@louisbosco @WhiskeySandwich The 9111 is now available in London and Germany.
-
@jiminstitches I saw that and even asked if they could ship to the US. Nope. Strange to me how many Red Wing models aren’t available in their country of origin.
-
@WhiskeySandwich dude, if you wanted a pair Im happy to grab you some and ship them over to you.
-
@jiminstitches very cool of you, thanks! But I’m good with what I have for now. Pretty psyched on these Rovers
-
Originally I wasn’t psyched about these scars but they’ve grown on me
