Hifi, Lofi - Show us What you Listen With…...

@Mizmazzle I'm not into vinyl, but I really like Darko's approach to hifi. I know he's done a few tt reviews in the past few years with a focus on pragmatist hifi or something like that. I think he has a website but I've only ever followed him on YouTube. He's got a good ear in my experience when I've listened to some of the same gear and I like that he has a really varied taste in music and isn't snobby about anything. Might be worth seeing what he recommends to help generate a short list for you to look into more.

I have about 4 of these naims dotted around the house not as good as separates but not too bad either.

@Mizmazzle
Honestly, vintage is the way. But that takes time and effort. -
@Mizmazzle @Crispy-Heron when I decided to get my vinyl back out I picked up an AT LP5. I run it through my Marantz NR1510 (which is actually a home theater receiver but has a phono preamp). Then my dad gifted me a set of SVS Sound Prime bookshelves and matching sub a while back. Anyway, the AT5 turntable has been great and didn’t break the bank. Been pretty happy with this setup but would ultimately like a devoted listening room.

Jazz bar in Sofia has a nice setup

@68degreesorless just slightly out of my price range....
-
@68degreesorless …but the question is, how did it sound?
-
If you don't mind shopping secondhand, my set up is Linn Sondek LP12, NAD 3020A, TDL speakers and a Pioneer CD player. It all sounds great and came in well under a grand - although the Linn was by far the most expensive item. My ears aren't good enough to appreciate a really nice set up.

@Crispy-Heron - i have Technics 1200MK7, bought it couple of years ago to run it wirelessly with Sonos Port and streaming it to various sonos speakers i have in my flat.
the setup works far above any of my expectations. It was my first move into modern tech after having old marantz with Jamo speakers for eternity. -
@goosehd sounded very good. Needed to be turned up louder to tell if truly spectacular but I didn’t want to be that guy. Had the place to ourselves for a couple of records, which was great since no one was talking. That’s my most frequent issue with hifi bars…

+1 for Technics SL1200. I've been enjoying the more recent SL1200GR with an Ortofon Blue stylus for a few years now, no issues and sounds good to me.
-
@prpx I have a port setup on my hifi, and I use it to stream Apple music through the receiver and speakers, but I was never able to get it to go the other way and put the LP or CD play through to my Sonos speakers.
I thought maybe I misunderstood the capabilities and it didn't work both ways - but you've got it working? Maybe I need to revisit it, I've likely done something wrong.
-
@ManiacLachy - hej, my turntable has a built in preamp. Output from turntable goes into port input. From port i stream to sonos speakers. If your turntable does not have a builtin preamp than plug it in the amp, amp to port and stream from there. You have to have sonos speakers for that setup. I have ikea bookshelf ones (4 of them) and a pair of sonos 3
