Thank you guys! As to what I listen to when I’m running (indoors on Elliptical) is music (dance/electric) that is upbeat with a pretty good beat. I find that if there is a good tempo that I will try to match it and run faster. Slower days and I will try and do the same to seek out music with a slower tempo. I know it doesn’t help much as you were asking about podcasts and audiobooks.

I just normally need something (especially indoors as it’s boring) to keep me motivated.

@Alex I’m usually listening to podcasts like ‘love is the message’ or Ezra klein or things by Novara media, or running podcasts like singletrack, or whatever newish music seems interesting after reading pitchfork reviews. Recently that has been Maria sommerville, playboi carti, and Bon iver. I tried shokz but prefer AirPods Pro which are easier to use and in transparency mode I can still hear what’s around.

@goosehd I can recommend the Spinfit Superfine replacement tips from Amazon for the AirPod Pro's - they make the pods stay in my ears way better than the Apple tips do. Also they are available in a 'M/L' size that fits between the Apple M and L size.

@Nik Cheers bud … yeah so do I .. I think it maybe from doing to much too soon , I did a month of easy running before I introduced any speed work , could of built the miles up probably to quickly as well as running 6 days a week.. 😬

Got Swansea Half coming up in just over 3 weeks ,looking forward to running that .

Then was thinking of doing a few park runs though out the summer before starting another block of training for Cardiff half I managed to get a place for in October ..

You got any races coming up ?

@Nik …and, how’s it working out for you (shoes)? They look pretty. Too often though, pretty shoes don’t always mean comfort over the miles.

@goosehd I’ll test the shoes today, see how they go. Barkley is not for me I think. 2026 I’ll go back and run 3 Centurion UK races to see if I can get on a podium. Then in 2027 I might get some charity places at big races, London Marathon, Cocodona 250 mile ultra trail, UTMB.
You have any races coming up?

@Nik 5k coming up in June is the only thing planned. I’ve changed my tact and concentrating on becoming quicker and training for shorter periods to balance home life. All of my runs this year have been between 30-60 minutes in length.

@Alex For running, I like EDM. There's a label called Monstercat that has come curated playlists on Apple Music (just search "monstercat"), or their compilation albums are pretty good. Their sub-label "Instinct" is a bit less tempo, a bit more trancey, and I listen to for easy runs. "Uncaged" is a bit faster, more bass, etc, and I listen to for faster runs.

Usually my runs are with the hound though, so no music as I want to be able to hear whether he's still following me or has gotten distracted by some scent and wandered off during the off-leash bit in the park.

                        Take the dive...
