@Fadez cheers mate I honestly didn’t know what I was capable of running 13.1 miles at a given pace , I’ve been doing x4 2 mile repeats off 2mins recovery at 6:35 per mile pace most Saturdays when I haven’t been injured .
so I just ran relaxed kept just clicked off the miles .
These are probably the most consistent Mile splits I’ve ever run

Well done @Jcaz6996 hope those injuries stay away. what's next?

I've always wanted to get into running, and only recently (this year) got fit enough to perhaps start... Any advice for a newbie?
I've lost 25kg in weight the past year, so feel a lot lighter on my feet in general whereas before when I wanted to start I felt like I would wreck my knees

Me wheezing, trying to find more oxygen in the air. Old people driving, looking me in the eyes, and narrowly missing me. 200 pound attack dogs, off leash, that want to rip my body to shreds…
Truth is, I can’t keep ear pods, buds, etc. in my ears when I run. I’ve tried the over the ear sport types, but I hate the cords.
So to follow up on your question: any recommendations for headphones for running?

I use both airpods and Shokz depending on where I am running (if i need more spacial awareness, not airpods)

@goosehd I have some power Beats Pro that I like running with. Goes over the ear so they feel pretty secure. Cordless also

Thank you guys! As to what I listen to when I’m running (indoors on Elliptical) is music (dance/electric) that is upbeat with a pretty good beat. I find that if there is a good tempo that I will try to match it and run faster. Slower days and I will try and do the same to seek out music with a slower tempo. I know it doesn’t help much as you were asking about podcasts and audiobooks.
I just normally need something (especially indoors as it’s boring) to keep me motivated.

@Alex I’m usually listening to podcasts like ‘love is the message’ or Ezra klein or things by Novara media, or running podcasts like singletrack, or whatever newish music seems interesting after reading pitchfork reviews. Recently that has been Maria sommerville, playboi carti, and Bon iver. I tried shokz but prefer AirPods Pro which are easier to use and in transparency mode I can still hear what’s around.

@goosehd I can recommend the Spinfit Superfine replacement tips from Amazon for the AirPod Pro's - they make the pods stay in my ears way better than the Apple tips do. Also they are available in a 'M/L' size that fits between the Apple M and L size.

@Nik Cheers bud … yeah so do I .. I think it maybe from doing to much too soon , I did a month of easy running before I introduced any speed work , could of built the miles up probably to quickly as well as running 6 days a week..
Got Swansea Half coming up in just over 3 weeks ,looking forward to running that .
Then was thinking of doing a few park runs though out the summer before starting another block of training for Cardiff half I managed to get a place for in October ..
You got any races coming up ?
Is everyone on Strava?
If so what’s everyone’s user name I’ll give you a follow and some kudos -
Hope it’s a great day in Swansea @Jcaz6996
Just got a new road shoe first time trying On
I’m running maverick 50km South Downs way June 28 as a training race for my main goal this year of Eastern States USA 100 mile ultratrail race in August.
I’m on strava cool to connect with people there https://strava.app.link/RlPz2iZbnTb

@goosehd I’ll test the shoes today, see how they go. Barkley is not for me I think. 2026 I’ll go back and run 3 Centurion UK races to see if I can get on a podium. Then in 2027 I might get some charity places at big races, London Marathon, Cocodona 250 mile ultra trail, UTMB.

@Alex For running, I like EDM. There's a label called Monstercat that has come curated playlists on Apple Music (just search "monstercat"), or their compilation albums are pretty good. Their sub-label "Instinct" is a bit less tempo, a bit more trancey, and I listen to for easy runs. "Uncaged" is a bit faster, more bass, etc, and I listen to for faster runs.
Usually my runs are with the hound though, so no music as I want to be able to hear whether he's still following me or has gotten distracted by some scent and wandered off during the off-leash bit in the park.
