IH-526Lod - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
@Goz. Not sure if that was brought to your attention as I see you debating between both 19L jackets. The OD versions is much, much easier to get along with. Big difference in stiffness and brake in period. The regular one is a handful if you are not used to very tough denim.
-
@yannis Thank you for that info. I've never had denim that stiff I can only imagine what it must take break it in. Maybe I should start off with the OD version
. Which one produces the most high contrast fades and when buying the OD version vs. the indigo should I size up 1 from my normal size??
-
I think really well worn in the indigo version looks better. However the OD is great from start to wear and to behold. Moreover the OD looks great combined with anything.
If it was a good bit shorter I'd still have mine.

@goosehd Thanks if I decide to go with the indigo should I do a hot soak before wearing it and how much shrinkage can I expect?

I couldn't tolerate the stiff material of the Lefty, and found it terribly uncomfortable. I ended up selling it to a forum member here awhile back, who is happily wearing it now.
The OD denim is MUCH more pleasant from the first wear.

See the table Goose posts below, which is the link above.....
Personally I would soak and agitate before wear, but ther is no rule book.
It's up to you........ -
@Goz Please note that shrinkage is an imprecise science and your results may vary. Below is a test that was performed by the IHUK crew and their results.

@goosehd Thank you very much!!

@Giles Thank you!!

@Goz I had the same question. @Giles mentioned the once soaked the indigo version should be the same or close to the OD measurements. So just look at the OD measurements when they are released and get the one that matches your best fitting jacket, especially if you have a type 3 or similar. I actually don't understand why some say it runs small. The measurements from the old versions compare in size to other IH type 3s. The Lefty jackets seem to look more slim fitting, so maybe that's what people are talking about. I personally like that.
-
@jpvisual compared to the length my OD is slim in the chest and waist. With a layer like a uhf or hoodie I can't button it up. But it's still too long and I am not a short guy. Can't say anything about the indigo, but the 526Lod is my worst fitting jacket but still the most badass looking and I wear it all the time.

I think I want this one. Need to see how the measurements come out.

@CosmoSix5 it's a great cut for tall guys with an athletic build and wide shoulders. The waist and chest are quite slim in my opinion. Also it's the longest body on any type3 jacket I ever owned. But still a great jacket, even if it's not ideal for me personally it gets a lot of wear in the colder months

@FlavourFade - your take is spot on. The XXXL that I sold was really nice. But the chest and waist were too small - couldn’t really button them. Arms long (IH standard) which were great for me. Shoulders perfect (I have broader shoulders), and the length was a little longer than traditional T3 - which again, is what IH does to add pockets - and I love the look too. It’s an incredible jacket. Just didn’t fit my mid section all that well. But if you don’t have a gut, it could work. Check the measurements - as recommended for all pieces

I took my usual size L in this jacket but this definitely fits different. Longer torso and very slim fitting but probably my most flattering jacket as a result.
