As far as dressing them in clothes that are actually appropriate (forget about cool) that’s a battle lost before begun.

We have ringcam footage saved of the police visiting our front door to make sure we knew our kids (4 at the time) were running around outside naked.
No it's not a crime and cops were cool but they had to follow up with a visit since an overzealous fed ex delivery person called in a complaint.

Clothes are always cheap ones as they grow out of them so quick I don’t see the point spending a significant amount on itemsSneakers however I’ll happily spend $200 knowing in 6 months he will need another pair

It gets worse.
For real though guys, for the first time the other day I had this feeling like 11 and 13 is fun and I should be appreciating it a lot more. Everything up to this point was drudgery and I’ll block it out if I can. That is all.
Children have no idea they're a royal pain in the ass.

We hadn’t had the death conversation with my four year old yet and my aunt took it upon herself to have it without our knowledge or consent, spontaneously, without any forethought or consideration. He flipped out after and later that night started screaming in a panic “we’re all gonna die.” We’ve had to do some major damage control and not only make a game plan for how we want to frame it but also unwind the shit she did. We’re on the other side of it now and we’re good, just wanted to share a couple things that helped immensely.

I had a conversation with ChatGPT where I asked about quantum mechanics, quantum physics, simulation theory, basically the nature of reality as the leading minds in these theories understand it today, drilled down from that and asked, ok, if we take these things as truth, what does this mean for the nature of death and what could potentially happen to our consciousness after death. Then asked it to condense this down to a digestible form that a four year old could understand. Wild ride and super interesting read for grown ass adults but also super helpful for my kid.

@chillmonroe I remember having the talk, didn't use chat GPT for help, but the circle of life or "the Tree" it uses in one of the examples was the main part of it. Very helpfull stuff.

Nothing to report parenting-wise yet but our baby Jack Hickory is 20 weeks and one day old in utero. Halfway there, Amanda is feeling kicks when we lay down for bedtime. I felt one last night! It was so cool to make contact!
