        @kkibbey23 thank you, I just nabbed it Weds. It is the newer version w the in house movement w the sapphire back. I almost ended up w an Airking but have wanted this too long to pass on it. I still do want a big pilot albeit the 43mm.

        @Giles great watch

          Watches and Wonders is coming in a few weeks, and new watches are being released in the run-up. Blancpain has just announced the Fifty Fathoms Tech - Ocean Commitment IV, which is a 45 mm titanium piece. Jason Heaton drew the short straw and got sent to the Philippines to test it.

          The watch looks quite nice, but I'd probably get a Bathyscaphe in titanium in preference.

            @Giles I didn't realize that Panerai was a very limited edition with only 75 produced. Just looked it up trying to figure out what model it was...thanks for sharing 🙂

              That FF Tech leaves me cold. Not differentiated enough and a lot of coin for it. The main visual differentiation is something I don’t want (He escape valve).

              I’d go Glashutte SeaQ Panorama Date. Way cheaper and more interesting IMHO.

              Think it, be it.

                @mclaincausey I like the SeaQ Panorama Data more than the Fifty Fathoms, and I think that it's better finished. However, the FF is a bit slimmer, which makes it more wearable.

                Of course, I'd probably buy an Omega Ploprof instead, which is the same sort of price, and far less practical...

                  @Graeme fair. Though I would go for a regular FF over this one personally.

                      Watches of Switzerland has opened a dedicated Rolex boutique on Old Bond Street. It's a conveniently short stroll from Rivet and Hide. Hodinkee has published a write-up, which is basically a PR puff piece. (There are a lot of snarky comments asking whether customers can actually buy watches there.)

                            I haven’t got the watch game of many here, but I’m proud of this Carrera Heuer reissue from 1996 that I picked up 10 odd years ago. I’d always liked the Carrera TAGs, but this reissue just struck me as classic and unfussy.

                                @Bridger Thanks. Although made after Heuer sold and they became TAG Heuer, they did the re-creation of the 60s classic right by keeping the old logo. They even kept it to the original 36mm case, a lot smaller than most watches today, but another feature I quite like.

                                A quick check shows it worth a little more now than what I paid 10 years ago, but still quite affordable. I also discovered they did a Monaco re-creation the following year in 1997, along the same vein - Heuer branding, small case - and now I'm wondering if I should add it to the collection ...

                                    My inflight neighbor was wearing a model that looked like this. Does anyone here have one? Thoughts? It looked like a great balance of causal and stylish.

                                      @Bridger the Portugieser Chronograph looks a lovely piece, but I haven't paid much attention to them. I do like the Year of the Dragon model with the red dial, though.

                                      They swapped the movement out from a Valjoux, ETA, or Selita calibre to an in-house one in 2020. The versions with the newer, in-house movement have a sapphire back, whereas the older models have a solid caseback.

                                          @Bridger I used to own a Portugiesier with the black dial. One thing I didn’t quite get until after I bought it was that its 42mm size is nearly all dial so it wears much bigger compared to a similar size watch like a Sub or a Seamaster.
