Oh yeah. I think it would look pretty sharp. I put those in my Vans Authentics all the time.

@Oaktavia i had a pair of catchball picnic canvas sneakers years ago. They were white and I wore them every day to work, on light hikes or walking the dog... Kept them pretty white with this method for at least two years or so... Then I spilled tomato sauce all over them, washig did not help with that anymore

@Matt yes it worked for me too- I am wearing my pair right now at work. I switched the newspaper a couple of times. I will do this from now on.

bummer these are so sweet i bought two pairs of the white but the indigo and back were sadly long gone before i got at them

Process photos of dyeing my white sneakers indigo. These were taken after the first dip. The color appears yellow and bluegreen as the indigo oxidation occurs. I have subsequently administered three additional dips since this time. I about to give them a final rinse and wash and will post dry photos tomorrow.

They are mostly dry this morning. A nice medium indigo, which is what I was going for. I'll lace them up and take photos outside once the sun rises over the hills out back.
