@bluemantra yeah, the 666 has slightly lower rise, but other then that they are very similar. And the moleskin details are amazing.
Brand new heavy denim can sometimes be rough on the hands in the beginning putting them in and out.
But because the front pockets not just moleskin as pocket material, they have sewed an extra pice of moleskin just on the inside edge with the “fury” side up. So they are very comfortable right from the start. I can try to take a photo. -
@bluemantra
Best I could fix, but it’s comfy! -
@XPender Did you take your usual iron heart size?

Some x posting here
Got my denim wills all put back together thanks to @GraemeE -
@bluemantra No I sized one down. I have a medium, and I'm usually large in IH western UHF
-
@mecken88 Have these stretched out in the waist for you?
-
@bluemantra yes actually a little.
I was first going to order size 34 but they were out of stock so a took a leap of faith and ordered the 33. Had never tried a high rise jeans so didn’t know what to expect. My old jeans were low rise and sat more on the hips than my waist. So I knew I would probably need smaller but don’t know how much.But I’m glad I chose the smaller, the 34 would have been too big. The 33 have stretched just a tad in the waist and fits perfect now with a belt.
I could probably have squeezed into a size 32 and stretched so I wouldn’t need a belt.
But I guess the 33 is perfect for me.But measurements is always key.

I may be a lone voice in the wilderness on this but...just curious if anyone else here finds the Wills Jacket to be unwearable? It's a great jacket, well made, looks nice but I think it's really uncomfortable. Too damn rigid. Plus the sizing runs small so it doesn't allow for much movement or layering. I admire SJ and their business but with all the hype and praise around the Wills jacket Im wondering if there's anyone else who feels this way. I think it would be a much better jacket if it weren't so thick ( And had a blanket lining ).

In July 2022 I ordered the v2 Wills with the standard 24oz wax coating for January 2025 delivery.
In May 2024 I got an email about the limited edition Battleship Grey with a light wax coating. I think they called it 18oz+ like they do in the description of the Black LE jacket that they put out in January:
- https://shipjohn.us/products/the-v2-wills-jacket-black-dry-wax
- Please note: This Jacket has a lighter waxed/oil finish than our standard Wills jackets. While still heavily water resistant, This lighter finish makes for a more moveable garment... The weight gain is nominal with this finish so we're just calling this an 18oz+ based on the twill weight plus a smidge for the finish.
I went on the website the day they released the Battleship Grey not expecting to actually be able to buy one and I was surprised when my order went through.
So, long story short is I have two Wills jackets. The light-wax version is MUCH more wearable than the fully waxed beast. If I had it to do over again I'd get the 24oz Wills in an XL even though the measurements of the L is a much better match for every other jacket in my closet. The 24oz L is a little tough to layer under and it's hard to put on a backpack with it zipped up.
All of that to say, I don't find the 24oz unwearable exactly, but it's rigid for sure.

@Plant-Life I can understand the sentiment of it being “unwearable”. It for sure is a tough jacket. But I’ve been finding that the more I wear it, with the lighter the wax has gotten and it’s now formed to my body shape, it’s gotten much easier to wear. Still not the easiest for putting on a backpack as @chadstone30 mentioned. I have trouble getting my work vest on and off with a Wills on. But as for just wearing it around, I enjoy it more and more each time I put it on. A lighter weight fabric is probably better for overall movement though.
-
@chadstone30 The Grey version is lighter wax/weight sounds much better. Wish that had been an option when I got mine. I have a Medium V2 which I received in 2023.
@Danimal506 Thanks for the reply. I'd imagine it does soften up a but after a lot of wear. I just haven't been able to deal with wearing it enough to get to that point. There isn't a lot of good seasonal weather here in New York for it. It's usually too cold for it. It doesn't retain heat so it's not warm ( and I can't layer much ) but it's too thick for weather that isn't cold. I'm thinking of selling it.

@Plant-Life If your are considering selling it, please do so in the IH marketplace per our forum rules. Many sellers (and buyers) have had great transactions here.
