@IrishHeart totally agree that it is underrated.

I really like the subtle style compared with some of the Omegas in the line up.

I have lusted after it for over 15 years now.

Do you wear it on the bracelet?

@Bridger I do wear it on the bracelet. I originally bought it on the leather strap which was my preference at the time, but I got it serviced last year and swapped for the bracelet. It was genuinely like having a new watch and I love it.

@PJ I have just looked up this watch and seen that it was 2000m!

At first glance I assumed it was 200m.

Holy Scooby snacks, that is deeeeep...

@IrishHeart Yes, I bet if feels like a completely different watch between the bracelet and a strap.

I feel like that with my IWC Mark XV, which I prefer on the strap as I think the bracelet is too formal. However, I much prefer my MM300 on a bracelet. So, it depends on the watch and what look you're after I guess.

@Bridger not on the original calf strap, that is stored away, it's currently on a perforated racing strap with deployant clasp. My Monaco is the first McQueen re-issue from the late 90s, 1/5000. I love it! The lume has patina'd nicely. Sometimes I wear it on the modern Monaco bracelet.

@Selvedger That is a really nice piece. I like the simplicity of the cleaner face. I like it on the bracelet too.

Mine is a newer more busy version (not as cool as yours).

I like it on the strap with a Panerai style buckle.

                    @Bridger - thanks.

Meant to respond sooner. Did you ever consider the trilogy Railmaster? Has a look similar to my 300. I almost pulled the trigger on that Railmaster before. Also tough to find as they only made 3500 or so of them.

@MTpockets I have seen the trilogy Railmaster, and don't mind it.
However, there is something about the details of face of the previous version that I particularly like, which is why I lust for it.

If I was just generally looking for a smart blackfaced watch, I would probably scratch the Grand Seiko itch before an Omega.

@Bridger - good point on Grand Seiko. But I wouldn't waste a GS purchase on a black dial. Any GS I would pick up would have to feature a lighter, textured dial. White Birch comes to mind.

@Giles - that's a beautiful piece - I like it on the leather strap too

I was in Melbourne a week ago, and I saw the Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 in steel. It's a very pretty watch. I still haven't managed to get a look at the Patek Cubitus, because you need to jump through hoops for the local dealer to show it to you, but it was about 15% cheaper and a far nicer piece of design.

                                      Vacheron 222

The only shortcoming was that it's a boutique only piece, and the one in Melbourne already had three hundred expressions of interest.

Across the road, I saw a Montblanc 1858 "The Unveiled Secret" Minerva Monopusher Chronograph. The movement has been flipped, so that its back becomes the watch's face. The case back is solid, with an engraving of the old Minerva workshop on it. Again, it's a lovely piece.

                                      Montblanc Minerva

There was also a Zenith Defy Tourbillon, which is based around a variant of the El Primero 5 Hz movement.

                                      Zenith Defy

On a more accessible front, the Longines boutique had the new, carbon Ultra-Chron. The bezel is fixed, unlike the original steel version, which got the desk divers in Hodinkee's comments section ranting!

@Graeme Love that 222...would love to see it in person.

Funny enough, just based on pictures, I think I may prefer the gold version. And I am not a yellow gold guy. But for whatever reason, I seem to be drawn to that one a little more.

@Brodie the sales assistant said that she preferred the gold version too, because it was all one colour.

There was one on display in the window, and it looked good, but I would go for the steel model.
