Should I take the announcement of this trip to mean they'll be no Gosport gathering this year? Or are they completely unrelated?

Guess 1,5 hour from Gatwick with plane.
And around 10 minutes from the airport.I think only flights to Bremen from UK are from Stansted.
We will fly into Hamburg

ah ok , thought I‘ve seen it when planning the Party last year. Maybe they don’t offer it anymore .
From Hamburg its around one hour with the train to Bremen. -
