When in Hamburg for the Anny party, September 2023, Swatch released the Fifty Fathoms collection. @Giles and I walked over to the Swatch shop to see if we could get a gander. But, there was a line at least 3 blocks long. Needless to say, we weren't inclined to wait. I've been keeping an eye out for one, though. I managed to nab a new/unworn one for 75% of retail. No waiting in line, either. I went with the Arctic/No Radiations dial version...

A lot harder than I would have expected. The second hand was the rate limiting step.
16 yo son put it together.

The keeper on my "I'd rather not have my hand cut off whilst I am in a third world country (or London)" Seiko diver disintegrated.

So I made a new one. It's not perfect, so I will have another go, but it works.....

Can you get thinner cord for the 2nd keeper? It’d look more proportional to the overall watch and strap.

              The journey is the objective.

Yes, and I will try with thinner. This was a 2 strand Turks Head, I'll try a 3 Strand with the thinner...

That’s a cool diy fix. Might need Kevlar for extra security.

                      I think it's worthy of a spot.

                      I'm glad I waited, though...

At first, apart from the dial, the Arctic orange was my least favorite of the original five. Subconsciously, I believe I was viewing it as a Blancpain, and was thinking it should be more conservative. But, it's really just a Swatch, and what's a Swatch without some color ?

I think nabbing one at a discount is the way to be, as well. Considering I have 3 other Sistem51 watches, neither of them costing more than $150, $300 was the price I felt was worth the novelty of it all.

Speaking of novelty, here's the latest one to drop...

Work told me I had to go to San Francisco this weekend, so I threw on the ol’ plastic Moonswatch just in case I got mugged. I figured this one wouldn’t be worth me fighting back over. I do love it though.

@scooter I’ve seen so many of the Blancpains on the aftermarket for too cheap, usually from China so I’m nervous about getting one. I’m def not paying $400. I didn’t even want to pay $260 for the Moonswatch.

@Matt , i hear you. There is a line of battery powered fakes on the market, as well. I had parameters I stuck to. USA seller with shop stamped warranty card only.

Was finally time for a new strap and bezel on my square. It used to make me laugh that guys on the watch blogs would say there G-Shock was on its fifth set of resins.. I’ve wore this GW-M5610 every working day on a roof for 9.5 years and only just wore through the strap keeper 😂
I’ve had and still have much nicer watches but what a piece of kit a G-Shock is. And square and only square.

My attempt at making a keeper for this was a resounding failure, so I bit the bullet....
