Am I the only one who thinks the "Will your Wings" gimmick is a weird stunt for the company to push? They're really leaning into it. Sure they last a long time, but I'm not sure my son would be very interested in my worn out, grimy, mid-range boots when I'm gone.
Maybe this should be in Rants, but I do think Red Wings advertising department has had a weird marketing direction. A lot of their ads are a bit gimmicky and faddish or fashion-forward for "heritage" gear and workwear, but they simultaneously embrace the old-way aesthetic... It's not necessarily a bad fusion in concept, but imo it's poorly executed. Like Levi's. I don't claim to be a purist or anything, but it seems finicky and inconsistent.

I have 2 pairs of Beckmans, black and tan. Recently had both resoled via Brentford Cobblers. Very good boot highly recommended.

Freshened up the Iron Ranger 8111’s with a cream leather mid sole and vibram arctic sole. It has a much softer feel and excellent grip now. Also swapped out the speed hooks for eyelets to keep things tight.

Hast anyone experience with buying Red Wings from Japan on eBay? I really miss my 9060 especially after @weftyarn 's update on his pair, but had to sell them because they were half size small... Now found them NIB on eBay but never ordered something from Japan there?

I order quite a bit from Japan to US, shipping has been really fast (typically DHL) never had any issues.

Just bought a pair of the 9060 yesterday at F&P. Not sure what they have still in stock for sizes.
Fingers crossed that they fit.
I had sworn off RW because the newer iterations of IR did not last for me like the old ones. But the 9060 really speak to me and I "needed" a black boots.
Too late for thunderdome unfortunately.

Scored some 8876 seconds for $140. They don’t seem like seconds at all. Copper rough and tough is my favorite RW leatherLess is more

Looking at these boots, I don’t think they’re seconds. They don’t have the little punch hole that red wing always puts on seconds. And I’ve had seconds before and they have flaws. I can’t find any on these! Besides the scuffs from being in the box and sliding around. I’m stoked

@Choko Great buy , definitely a favourite of mine too the copper rough and tough leather takes some breaking in but well worth it . I think always looks better untreated. My first pair of 1907 I treated and darkened the leather never got them back to the original colour.

@Jcaz6996 yeah cr&t is tricky to keep looking like new. I have some 9111’s and I used mink oil on them. NEVER AGAIN. That stuff made them so dark and they will never look the same again. I have some 1907s too and I used red wings boot cream on them and those actually turned out pretty good
