GS wax commander @ 1000 miles. Superbly manufactured. Great boot.

RE: Show us your bootsposted in Footwear

9060 @ 150 miles or 4 weeks. Have not been wearing them daily due to ice and salt.
Not sure about them yet. Quality is 1-2 notches below GS. But these seem to be better made than recent generations of IRs. Nice leather midsole. Break in fast.

RE: Show us your bootsposted in Footwear

My first Iron Rangers lasted 8 years, second 4, third 2 years with numerous resoles. My cobbler confirmed that quality has been deteriorating and some new boots now look like factory seconds.
I was ready to pull the trigger on some custom Wesco's when a local recommended Grant Stone. Went with the waxed commander. https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/products/diesel-boot-natural-waxed-commander
Quality is two ticks better than IR, one tick better than Alden Indy's. Very pleased after 130 miles through winter and spring. These come with a vibram lugged sole that is a bit more rugged than IR with suits me using them almost exclusively in the woods in mud and snow.
PS: I am quite hard on my boots so the experience of the city dwellers with IRs could be much better.

@goosehd Awesome. My 3 girls in their twenties: "Dad, please don't cuff your jeans..." You are ahead of the game.

RE: Triathlonposted in Hobbies and Pastimes
@Dmart That was the winning time for NZ in 91. Most of us ran a good part of the swim. The organizers had not paid attention to the tidal schedule. Those were the days... You also needed a physician's attestation that you are in good health to start.

@XPender TImes have gotten so insanely fast. That time would have been top 3 overall way back when I raced.

RE: Triathlonposted in Hobbies and Pastimes
@XPender Fantastic!!!
Weirdly enough, that is the exact time I did at Ironman NZ many moons ago. I remember throwing up on the bike rides at least 5 times as I was not used to swimming in ocean water.
Again, fantastic effort! Did you qualify for Kona?
