Looks like the rally is called Peaks of the Andes 2024 going by the stickers on the cars. That is very cool to see in person! Great photos

6 months later, I finally got around to putting on the paint sealant. Just in time for the next hurricane. I love this truck, and my 888s-21.

@tody good work tracking down the official rally site! 👍🏼
Not all the cars listed there are on the road today in Argentina. I believe 9 - 11 are rolling onwards. A few never made it out of Chile, I hear. At least two Bentleys were shipped straight back to Europe from Valaparaiso.

          The journey is the objective.

@derek111 hell yeah love this setup! I put the AT3W on my taco and they’ve done great for 70k miles so when I saw the AT4W it was a no-brainer. Best truck tires for the money.

This truck eats up high alpine 4x4 passes, Canyonlands red rock, and tight overgrown trails to reach native cutthroat and brook trout in the summer time. Can’t wait for the snow to melt!

@SourPower that just warms my heart to read. when you have a rig like yours you gotta get out there and live. Given what you said it seems like you've chosen some smart mods: extra gas/water, winch.

@SourPower this is my 96 FZJ80 Land Cruiser. It is OEM triple locked and mostly stock - but an absolute beast. I am constantly in awe of how capable this rig is off the lot. I try to push it to its limits for camping, exploring and general shenanigans.

@SourPower yeah the 80 is hard to beat from the capability perspective and it's cozy to boot. Quite slow and relatively easy to work - luckily the following/community is quite robust and there is lots of data out there to devour. Last of the legendary front/rear solid axles. I wish we could get some of the Land Cruisers that are sold in the AUS market over here in the US.

I've got a thing about the mad Renault 5 Turbo, and I was tempted by a Clio V6 back in the day, only it didn't have enough leg room for me. Anyway, they've come up with an EV sequel.

It's even got a suitably practical boot. It's got in-wheel motors, so no axle to accommodate.

The only problem is that it's going to cost a lot. I've heard anything from £120K and up. 😲
