@Giles it could well have been at the vendor's end. I've dropped the company an email, and I'll see if they come back. Their site runs on the Shopify platform, so I'd guess that would do it all automatically.

Regardless of whoever made the mistake, it's annoying that I have to carry the cost.

It turns out that the customs declaration didn't have the discounted price I paid on it, and the Shopify software was also doing something funny with prices.

I heard an argument that cutting public sector costs will be harder for Musk and DOGE because the sacked employees will remain on the government's books as social security recipients.

Well they want to cut that too even though we paid into it. One of the ideas floated by Vivek was to base the firings on social security number prefixes and suffixes. That is an incredibly braindead idea for obvious reasons I won’t get into.

And Christmas, we have some of my French family coming for a few days. One of the kids is vegetarian, and her partner eats nothing with Eyes.

Also “eats nothing with eyes” could be fixed by modifying the guest rather than the menu - not a recommendation, just an observation - and picking up from @mclaincausey it could be the more humane option!
