I’ve been half ass shopping around for a new jacket ever since my run with the Mad Red, and it’s led me to the FCL Leon Custom. Anyone have anything to say about it? It seems like there are multiple versions of this jacket. Self edge shows 1.5 mm leather with cut off belt and epaulets with leftover snaps. Rivet & hide shows a 1.3mm cleaner version without the cutoffs.

@WhiskeySandwich yes there are different versions of the “Leon”, this one with shoulder pads and cut belt is the “Leon Custom”. Last year a special version came out in 1.5mm Shinki leather, they also make heavier ones in 2mm or lighter ones in 1.3mm and it is still an amazing jacket that ages very well. I usually wear a 34 or 36 in Perfecto but with their jackets I have to opt for a 38 because they are quite small. Congratulations my friend it is a wonderful choice 👏👏👏

Well this mfer is sick but it is wayyyy small for a “42”. Love the hell out of it tho, so gonna see about a 44. Hoping even that fits with a tee, let alone a hoodie. The 1.3mm leather is a perfect weight and has an amazing finish and construction. Pardon the shit photo, but I had to make fun of myself in the tiny jacket. I’m 5”11” and about 175lbs. The chest and shoulder is crazy tight. I think an extra inch in those spots along with .75 in the sleeve would work. The forearm and elbow is super slim too tho, so we’ll see…

My Fine Creek VB. jacket is a size 44 as with the Flat Head 44. Fine Creek fits tighter then the Flat Head.

I poured over measurements for a long time, comparing to the leather jackets I already have. Some of the actual measurements on the one I received were a bit smaller, but I should have gone for extra room anyway. The sleeves especially were an inch under their chart and are very snug on the forearm. That and the chest will make a huge difference, the rest I’m sure will break in

I'm also curious how the leather will relax and accommodate the wearer. My chesticles often feel constricted by garments that are otherwise 'my size'. The only leather jackets i have experience with are definitely a boxier cut. I guess the question is: how slim can you actually go with an out-of-the-box leather and still keep a full range of motion?

@WhiskeySandwich That jacket will have a bi-swing back, so that’s really the big indicator for me in terms of how slim I can go. I’ve had to send back a couple jackets that didn’t have it — my particular area of trouble is big shoulders, so that shit is really uncomfortable when the jacket is too small.

Overall I wouldn’t say they stretch too much, more just mold and shape, so I’d definitely be wary of any areas that seem constricting. Snug is fine, uncomfortable isn’t. It’s kind of a task getting leather jackets dialed sometimes but man it’s worth it! I wish I had more backs so I could own more of em lol…

@popvulture yeah, bi-swing back is a game changer. My BR has it and it's the most comfortable and best fitting leather jacket i've ever worn. Thing is, it's a little loose in the sleeves, and it's not the highest quality (some of the panels grain vary significantly). The next size up, a 44, for this FCL Leon actually has larger measurements than my BR here,, but, the MadRed was the largest leather jacket i've worn, measurement-wise. Leather and lining have a large part too. I guess I'll just find out when the exchange shows up!

Man, I don’t think those sleeves look too loose! Good stacking. I can’t really see the biceps though so that might be where they’re looser than you like.

I think that judging by the pic of the 42, the 44 definitely won’t be too big. Psyched to see!

@WhiskeySandwich Types of leather also contributes to fit/stretch/settling. Deer stretches the easiest, then steer/cowhide, and then horse which has almost zero stretch. I have zero experience with goat leathers.

For jackets I tend to size with the type of leather in consideration and will size smaller or larger depending on that type.

I think it’ll relax nicely but may take some work. Love this leather! I can tell it wants to fade.
