On a massive Nine Inch Nails kick at the moment. Devouring everything again.

I saw them in London on The Fragile tour with Atari Teenage Riot when I was about 15/16 and used to go to shows with a crew of guys in the year above me at school and totally did not appreciate it at the time 😞

On of those bands that I would pay good money to see at a big venue again for sure.

@Graham I never got into them but maybe I should explore, as I’ve really been enjoying Alessandro Cortini’s solo work this year. Obviously a slightly different vibe – seems to work well when driving at night.

Caught their " Further down the spiral " tour at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Marilyn Manson and the Jim Rose Circus were the opening acts.
They were at their peak and it was so loud and intense that I remember that the bass frequency was making my shirt flutter.
1994 and it was not Woke in the least.

Tonight’s music was influenced by @endo on the vinyl thread. Thanks mate!

@T4920 this Georgie G song came up randomly when I was streaming and vaguely remembered you posting.

I love it - I was in the middle of something so I wasn't paying full attention until the vocals came in - I thought it was some wild Donald Fagan side project or b-side

                  @GraemeE fantastic isn't it!

Haven't been this excited for an album in such a long time...

There's a song called The Magician he's been playing live with black midi for the last few years that I thought I'd never see a live release of after they announced their break up, but thankfully it's going to be on the album.

This recent performance of Holy, Holy and The Magician is so damn good!

I've seen him live numerous times, and have sometime been left a little disappointed by the overly obtuse way he delivers his vocals, but he seems to have really got things dialled in with this new band.

Assume you've heard his stuff with black midi? 27 Questions is possibly the most creative and interesting song I've ever heard.

“𝑁𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑙𝑒𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑏 𝑦𝑜𝑢. 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡 𝑖𝑡, 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑐ℎ 𝑡𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑚 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡.”

I'm aware of them but haven't really listened to much

I'll give it a deep dive

@GraemeE if you like the more Avant Garde, genre bending proggy stuff, Cavalcade and Hellfire are the ones you wanna check out.

Love their debut, but it's a different vibe altogether.

I now believe that the brothers Gallagher timed this reunion to coincide perfectly with a low point in human history. I think they were just waiting for shit to get so far out of hand that only the greatest living rock & roll band of all time could pull humanity out of its collective toilet. I’m feeling a serious Bill & Ted vibe now. I believe they’ll heal us all.

May be an unpopular opinion ( similar to my praise for the andre 3k flute album) but I'm 100% in favor of hip hop legends stretching their wings

@GraemeE I try not to listen to too much 'critical discourse' on music, but was the André album generally disliked? I loved it, but I am a longstanding fan of ambient music in general, and this definitely scratched that itch.

@T4920 I come from a similar place with enjoying ambient and new age music (to a point) so it wasn't much of a stretch to be able to enjoy an album of synth pads and flute.

IMO the grumbles on Andres album came from the fact that people really wanted another Outkast type album and what they felt like they got was a green half-caf half-decaf mint mocha latte, foam on the bottom, in a vase.

@GraemeE I feel like that speaks more to the entitlement of certain individuals rather than the creative integrity (or lack thereof) of an artists work.

He's clearly still got a 'classic' in him though.. He's stolen the show whenever he's been featured on hip hop tracks in recent years, but I respect anyone who's willing to step out side of their lane and dabble in things they're passionate about rather than churning out something for the sake of pleasing the masses.

Speaking of critical discourse, this is one guy that I'll always have time for. His take on New Blue Sun really resonated with me.
