These are great! They (obviously) feel sturdy, but are definitely lightweight. They wear like proper pants. The stuff in the pockets stay in the pockets and they are quite long, so they don’t make you look like you’re on camping.

Only (very minor) gripe is that they seem to attract cat hair. But that’s manageable.

How does this fabric compare to the 7.4oz cotton whipcord shorts? Thaks for your time

Just got mine in the mail. Love them.

Adding sizing/initial impressions context in case helpful. I've worn tag 36 in all IH bottoms for last 2 years. I'm now down about 10-15 lbs from my peak weight over that time period (~200 lbs today vs ~215 lbs at peak). Even at my heaviest, I wished most of my 36s were 35s after they stretched and broke in. Now, some of the 36s even look a little weird (bunched up at the waist) when tightened with a belt.

Given the waist runs larger than tag size on these, I figured it was the perfect time to try out at pair of 34s. Well, the waist fastens shut but they are quite tight. Would probably prefer a 36 today, but I'm going to keep them and see if I can get 0.5-1 inch of stretch. Can report back after few wears if anyone needs a data point. Beyond the waist, they are generally trim through the upper leg and thigh, but still comfortable. The 10 inch inseam feels a bit on the long side by today's fashion standards but I prefer that over too short. Can always hem later if it bugs me. Fabric is beautiful of course - excited to see some wear in. Side pockets are not super deep but suffice.

@Ghost-Cut I have both, and the whipcord feels a little lighter and softer to the touch. These here seem to wrinkle a little more than the whipcord. I like them both equally, though.

Just curious, why is hemming unavailable for these shorts? Ordered and just received it. Length feels kinda long so I am thinking if I could hem these shorts.

@crankyfart This fabric shows holes very clearly after hemming, and because these have been flat stitched not chain stitched, unless you wanted nearly 2" of length removed, we would have to unpick the existing stitches, refold and sew again and you would see the previous tracks of the sewing machine. In theory it is possible, but aesthetically they don't look that good, so we opted to remove the option all together.

I found mine also too long, rolled them inside for the width of the hem and gave them a new seam. Like them now.
