What a great resource this forum! The pictures really helped to decide a suitable fit (and weight) for my first pair of IH jeans. But… any idea when these will be restocked?

@thomms when I started here, I dove right in to the 666 cut. Still love them, but for me the 634 is the best cut.

I'm wondering if you guys could help me out. I already emailed ironheart customer service but I'm waiting for a reply due to the time change and figured I would reach out to the forum and see what everyone else thought too. I'm looking at the 21 oz 666 because I feel like they're the closest to my favorite jeans after I measured them. But the problem is, I can't decide if I should size down because I know they're going to stretch out but then how much can I expect them to shrink after the first and second washes. I'm hoping someone with a little more experience can help me out. These are the measurements of a great fitting pair of jeans for me. These are only 14 oz jeans so I know that is a little different. I do have some 21 oz in another brand. I don't love the cut though.. it's not my first rodeo with sanforized denim, but is my first sanforized and once washed.

                          34.5 waist
                          8in leg opening
                          10.5 front rise
                          15ish back rise
                          12in thigh
                          8.75 knee
30 Inseam probably go 31 for shrinkage

I'm pretty used to doing the trial and error thing, but this is a pretty expensive hobby to be messing around too much. I appreciate any input

                          Edit;
I usually wear for about 3 months before a first wash then every 2-3 months after for a 1 wash. If it's just sanforized, I do an initial hot soak.

@worsethanyou I'll chime in. The measurements you posted seem to put you in a size 34 almost exactly and with that said, I would not suggest sizing down.

I'm sure some people have sized down in the 666 cut with success but what we have seen is that most people find theres too little room in the top block of the 666 cut if you size down.

The 21oz denim is forgiving so you'll get some stretch but they aren't going to stretch a crazy amount like some denim does and as far as shrinkage, it's not a ton. I'd say potentially some shrinkage back closer to original waist measurement but then they'll stretch right back with ease. As long as you're doing cold wash/air dry that is.

                            Hopefully that helps.

Is 34.5 how your favorite jeans measure before or after youve worn them for 3 months. If it’s after, I’d size down and ask the crew for the largest 33 they have in stock. If it’s before then the 34 should work just fine as mentioned above.

the measurements I posted are a pair of jeans that are about a year old and have been soaked once and washed a couple times. Hang dried. ... If that helps.

Keep an eye on the thigh measurement. While the waist can stretch an inch easily when put under tension, the thighs really won't give up more than .25" or so unless you are super brutal to them with a floor jack or something.

Admittedly I’m only 2 years into Iron Heart denim, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I always buy true to size and never size down with stretching out the waist in mind. I know many / most here see an inch or more of stretch in a lot of their jeans but honestly I have not.

I guess if you buy them to fit true to size right out of the gate, why would they stretch at all (if they’d not under a lot of tension).

Anyway I’m 7 pairs in (666 and 634 cuts - 21oz, 14 oz, 16oz slub and left hand twill). I don’t see any significant stretch in any of them but again YMMV.

The problem with going tts or sizing up and trying to shrink is the dreaded diaper butt look with excess material everywhere. TTS works if the fit is a match for your shape, but if it doesn’t looks imo horrible. Sizing up and trying to shrink the hell out of it never looks as good as if you just got the right pair of jeans the first time.

It’s the main reason that I recommend the IH crew (shop@ironheart.co.uk) every time to avoid costly mistakes.

…and to further complicate the equation. Sizing is dependent on so many variables with one of them being the material used for the pant. Some easily stretch (slubs) whilst some have none (whipcord) and quite a few in between. All of this needs to be considered when buying a new pant and to go TTS or sizing down slightly.

Trust the guys at IHUK to guide you in the right direction.
