Went to a Rolex store in Mexico 2 weeks ago. Was able to try on the Explorer II which I have been lusting over. It's thicker than its measurement would suggest. The sales person told me that it can be had within 1 year in Mexico. Seems faster than in the US.

@Giles I am very utilitarian with watches no matter price point I neeed them to serve a purpose other than I love looking at watches. I got spoiled with trit tubes on marathon. Thinking I saw you post a watch with a radioactive triangle. Assuming it had tritium? What manufacture?

@TinMan ironically that indicates no radiation. Originally was there to let wearers know they didn’t use radium lume.

I’ve got an itching for a new watch. I haven’t bought one in years, last one was a Breitling in 2007 or so….

Right now I’m starting to look at the SD43, speedmaster hell even fifty fathoms. Hopefully this year it will happen

@kkibbey23 the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and Glashütte Original SeaQ retail for a similar price to the Rolex, but I'd argue they're both are finer pieces of watchmaking.

If you're interested in resale, the Sea Dweller is probably the best option. The Fifty Fathoms holds its value reasonably well, and the Swatch version has boosted its popularity, but the SeaQ isn't so great. It's probably worth browsing Chrono24 to see what the current asking prices are.

However, some of the limited edition Blancpain models can be quite desirable. The Barakuda from a few years back is now fetching nearly twice its original retail price.
