N1 Deck Jacket looking after the wool?

N1 Deck Jacket - advice re the Wool / Alpaca collar
I’ve had this jacket 2 years now and I love it. I’ve noticed that the wool on the collar is really flattening out and I wondered are there any tips (and ‘don’ts’) when looking after it.

This is an interesting question. I have a freenote shearling lined jacket that I often wonder about the wool on.

Also interested in this. Have similar question after one season of use. Guessing steaming it then using a brush gently to fluff it up?

For wool, I've heard of people using a gentle shampoo on the surface of the wool (don't soak through) and then brushing it to restore fluffiness once dry.

This is the reason I haven’t bought one yet. I’ve seen several used ones for sale where the liner in the collar has pulled out.

The thought never entered my mind when I bought my N1 last week.

@popvulture no, you’ll see on many of the well used one that the lining seems to pull out on the collar.

Hm news to me. I have the N1 vest and have had no problem with the wool doing anything weird.

Admittedly I’ve only had my N1 for 11 months, but no problem at all with the wool, and I don’t expect to do so.

@Sean94 wowzers...that is most unfortunate - and not what I've experienced - I've had mine for ~5 years, fairly consistent usage in teh fall/winter/spring months - but the wool looks great.

@Inorganic yeah it’s not put me off at all tbh, I’m waiting for a restock of the standard N1 in Olive. Rogue territories new flannel lined stealth jacket had my head turned a bit today but the N1 is what I’m waiting on! Wish I could justify both!

@Sean94 careful my guy...i bought the N1 as my first piece and was like 'that's it I'm out, I can't believe i just dropped this much bread on a jacket'....that was 3 jackets, 5 jeans, countless shirts ago....but to your point, it is most certainly worth the wait enjoy!!

That’s pretty much what I’ve seen and there’s been a few posts about it and listings on EBay with similar wear. It’s something I wouldn’t be happy about so I’ve held off from purchasing.

Modified n1 deck vest. 5 years of use and maybe close to 1k wears so of course it shows. Would buy again
