@Crease I wish we could license our WR’s for road use here in Canada. I have the 250 as well and it’s a great bike, but it is licensed for off road use only.

@goosehd Dang that's a bummer! Yeah here I think you can license any motorcycle that has a headlight, brake light and mirror. Not even sure you need turn signals!
This is a WR250R though so it came with all that from the factory, I just upgraded a lot of it.

mainly do they check exhausts? I'm wondering if many aftermarket exhausts are legally approve and if inspection is yearly, for those running non legal aftermarket, do people swap them out just for the inspection?

It all depends if you have a 'friendly' MOT Tester you can go to. Strictly speaking pipes need to be BS approved or stiffed for highway use to go through the MOT, and you certainly don't want the 'Not for highway use' stamp showing your aftermarket pipe if possible.

I have a few 'noisy' bikes (old and new) and have no real problems with getting an MOT with my usual tester

If you want to be an idiot and do any of those things, you’re guaranteed to be pulled over and your sound levels checked.
