Cross post to show some love for this great shirt. I noticed the western was in the outlet, if I was a smaller size I’d consider getting that also lol. Sounds like the fabric is out of production, glad I have this in the arsenal!

Hello all - I'm new with all of this. I recently purchased my first Iron Heart piece - a used IHSH-21-BLK Chambray Work Shirt in black. Upon receiving the item, I noticed a odor from the shirt. Not horrible, but it was bothering me so I decided to lightly hand wash it. I can still slightly smell it after a rinse. Which leads me to a few questions:

1. Is this scent from the actual shirt? As I doubt it could be from the previous owner. I hear it could possibly be the black sulphur dye?
2. Any tips on removing this smell?
3. After the wash, the water was brown. I'm guessing it's just from the dirt of daily wear. Or is it from the actual dye?
4. Would any of the dye from the shirt rub off onto my other layers?
5. My version of the shirt has white buttons. Is it just a different variation of the shirt, as I see them with black buttons?

@deezy we have never done the IHSH-21 with white buttons, to my knowledge, but have done other chambrays with white buttons. IHSH-46 for eg. Can you share pics of your shirt?

Thanks @Alex - I just realized that my shirt is indeed a IHSH-46, and not the IHSH-21 that I thought it was. Not exactly sure what the main differences are? They look very similar! Possibly the fabric being different and softer on the IHSH-46? Do the dyes on these shirts fade / wash after each rinse?

I am not familiar with the IHSH-46, is before my time. Perhaps its a mock twist, to give it the salt and pepper appearance.

It's a Mock Twist of some sort, so will be softer than a IHSH-21-BLK. I can't remember the dyeing process, so I can't comment.
