I've ridden rollers in winter for 40+ years but now concede to a trainer (the LeMond works well, others are better than they used to be, which isn't saying much).  If you don't think of the Peloton as a bicycle, because it's not, it prepares you to ride because it can sufficiently kick your ass.

There are bicycle makers much like Iron Heart, if you are interested in boutique steel.  In America that would be the likes of Richard Sachs or Mr Nagasawa who makes keiran bikes.  The most IH of all the road bike makers are Toei and Osamu Fukuda.  I have bikes from all of these Japanese builders–-I've been at it with Japanese handmade for many years now.  Check out this video of Fukuda:

@SamD well done mate a hot one as well, but if this is a challenge you know I can’t turn one down 😂 was it windy or not too bad? Considering I cycle pretty much every day and havnt done this in 5 years it’s probably the kick up the arse I need!

@AdamC nah, the wind was fine, but the cycle lanes/traffic lights around Fareham and Cosham were a bit of a nightmare. Can probably knock at least 5 mins off that time if I can find a quicker way through those sections.

Ps. Not saying that @Alex or @AdamJ have suggested that you’re competitive or anything, but I was also wearing a 21oz type III and UHR bottoms.

I’ll throw another time in. The Sunday morning of the 20th Anniversary party I rode to the cooperage, paused the computer to hang out for a bit and buy a couple things, then caught the ferry back.

Following what we were saying this afternoon @Alex, this was this evening’s run. Think I’ve found the most efficient route and was relatively lucky with traffic lights/junctions. Shaved 5 mins off of last night’s time, probably about as quick as I’m gonna get!

Tragic events at the Tour of Switzerland the other day - not sure what can be done to make the descents safer without nullifying a significant element of the sport.

Unfortunately, nothing. Some will argue that organizers shouldn't put descents near finishes as it increases the likelihood riders will take more risks to try to win a stage..... In this case Mader wasn't even competing for the win. It's just not possible to eliminate descending as you have to go down if you go up. And organizers can't have every mountain stage be a single climb with a summit finish, which would remove any legitimate descent from the stage profile.

Anyone have a Canyon Speedmax? Been drooling over the CF SLX since Ironman Vichy and would love to be persuaded that they are horrible wastes of money.

@Nik absolutely horrible bike! Too much useful storage, too aero, too fast. Absolutely not worth it 😂

I don’t own one but basically everyone around me. I rode one once and I fell in love. If I will commit to Triathlons or even Duathlons only, that’s the one for me to get. Value for money is great if you ask me.

I have a Canyon MTB. Direct to consumer pricing makes them easily the best specced bikes at every price point. Only issues I've ever heard of someone having with a Canyon were with the newest Aeroad, and Canyon has since figured out solutions to those issues.
