Can someone please identify this wood for me?

I got it from this 18th century cemetery in the park we’re camping at.  The Jones Scott Singo cemetery was discovered by the Civilian Conservation Corps who cleared the land for the park.  They originally cleared it because they thought it was about 12 farmers’ graves with stone markers.  It was later found to contain over 50 graves, some of which were civil war vets.

Caroline loves cemetery’s  ??? so she was beside herself…

That’s what I thought too but the log was very splintery like old driftwood so I wasn’t sure.  Thanks!
