HAYIT - How Are You Isolating Today.
-
In my 20 years of working, I have never had the job, or the opportunity to work from home. I'm a bit of a homebody at heart but am already going a little stir crazy as i suspect most of you are that are working from home and missing my crew deeply.
Fear not thou, I'm all set up in the living room plugging away helping all of our awesome customers.
The one thing I can not fulfill from here is measurement requests but @AdamJ and @Chesson are holding the fort at HQ on that one along with all the packing and shipping.
If I get at too much of a loose end, I may start measuring my own clothes, curtains, circumferences of pots and pans etc if anyone has any requests?
How is everyone else set up at home today?

@Graham - you planning to cover all eventualities . . . .

@Graham you beat me to it old boy… I was formulating more or less this very thread idea just now while I was out for the morning play session with the little guys.
Speaking of which...
The deal in Norway is a little complex. On Thursday last week schools, kindergartens and uni's closed along with most food serving venues and non essential service providers where people can gather (gyms, cinemas museums, etc). In addition relatively strict quarantine/self isolating measures have been introduced along with the recently ubiquitous "social-distancing" principle.
So our everyday now consists of me being responsible for my students education via the internet (so working from home), Hot Ingrid carrying on with her teaching Masters from home (with Skype lectures etc), the three big boys doing their home schooling, and us all entertaining the two little ones, Eddie (3) and Alfred (4 and a half). Netflix and quarantine it is not.
So far trying to get a schedule together. I have cold/flu symptoms and can't leave the house but the streets are so empty and the woods are right by us, so I take the little guys out for an hour or two every morning. I haven't seen a soul :D. Otherwise the focus is on dividing our time so everyone stays happy and productive...
I'll make a point of documenting a whole day here at The Overlook (as we've renamed our house) tomorrow.
What about the rest of you? What is your situation? How are you enjoying all of this?

Everyone looks very tidy and professional. I've been based from home for over a year now, and my lovely office is an untidy mess. Like many others I plan to use this time at home to do lots of overdue chores (like tidying my office).
As you can see, I have also degenerated into a total slob. Wearing pull-on joggers (easier to dress with my broken wrist) and old-lady slippers (which are comfy and warm). I wonder when I'll next bother to get dressed properly and put some makeup on…?! Lucky old Giles, huh?

Worked 6am til 12.30… Our turnaround this morning equalled a busy Saturday... Saw the dumbest things being horded... Bleach, toilet paper, perishables... I went for boxed wine, canned beans and vegetables, vacuum packed cheese and sourdesem bread,...
We can't keep up the sales in the shop, and our deliveries are already showing that things are out of stock at the depot...
So whilst already being more at risk cause we have to deal with loads of customers, our swell company has provided us with... disinfectant gel... #blessed #pleasekillmenow

neph93, I hope nothing serious relating to the flu/cold symptoms.
The important thing with working from home (WFH) is to maintain your social contacts via email/phone/facetime/text (and of course the IH forum :D) or whatever means you have. There will be discruptions in supply chains, but I think it will only be temporary.
This social distancing/isolation will wreak havoc on our norms/bonds with one another. Cabin fever will soon come into play, but we must be vigilant in holding out for the greater good!

@Chap
That working length is spot on. -
As of yet, my office continues in normal operations mode, so I am safely tucked away in my office. However, my children's Spring Break has been extended a week, and so my wife, who has worked from home for years, is now juggling them and her job. It has not been a relaxing time for her.
If I suddenly stop posting, it will be because I said something unusually stupid to her and she finally offed me.

Isolation fun on this thread as a spot of light relief… for example:
I call this «Cake baking in a time of Corona»:

I'm offshore at through the end of the month so I'm isolating as much as possible in my tiny office. It's not much but at least I can lay low and avoid other workers as much as possible. Most meetings have been cancelled to avoid crowding in small spaces and they've enacted a screening protocol for all people headed offshore.
