A question for the IH veterans out there: Do you know what type of thread is used to sew the buttons onto the UHF work shirts? The top button of this UHF just fell off, and I'm going to try to sew it back on myself. Maybe an ol' white thread will do, and that's fine…but I know there are lots thread options in the world and I want to try to and match it up with the other buttons as best I can.

        Damn.  Sorry about that.

Go for a polycotton thread or polyester thread it's a lot stronger than pure cotton.

        Look for Gutermann.

Interesting you mention this because I noticed on mine that the top button seems to be hanging on by a thread (cheesy pun intended) and feels like it might fall off any minute.  Thanks for the link to the thread @Giles….hopefully I won't need it.

Wonderful colorway and especially stunning in the work shirt version. Congratulations @Stass . What other purchases have you made?

Thank Neph. Seems this shirt got less love than the traditional colours, which was to my benefit being a rookie and all. lol.

I've also procured the 634-XHS, the 888-XHSib, the navy moleskin CPO, navy 10oz chambray workshirt, black 10oz chambray western, and the Heavy loopwheel zip-hoodie. Basically jumped in with two feet after realizing I'd been looking for this brand my whole life…literally (almost).

I'll post a few more pics I have on my desk top in a day or so of the stuff I've been wearing around town. Thanks!

@Stass it is a generally accepted truth that westerns are more popular than work shirts, although that isn’t as stark a difference as it used to be.

IH released all this last seasons UHF patterns in both cuts and all sold well. In some causes the the work shirts outsold or sold much quicker than the western iterations in the same pattern.

Personal preference plays a role, but it one discussion on here has been about whether work shirts suit bigger/wider guys better than westerns. Personally I like and own both but, prefer a work shirt more often than not.

EDIT: that’s a nice collection you’ve started. Classy move getting stuck in with the XHS. The chambrays are classic shirts too.

@neph93 I think I prefer the work shirt cut too, as it fits my broad shoulders better, and has nostalgia for me behind it. I read m everyone posts regarding the XHS jeans in detail, and they became clear winners after that. I’m just still shocked at how different the XHS and the XHSib are… wasn’t expecting that, and can’t really decide which to break first. I’ve been wearing the XHS the last fee days, and every time I put my hands in the back pockets, I keep thinking they are lined or brushed... that denim is so soft on the underside. The XHSib... well, that’s a different “beast”...

Definitely seems a bit underrated. I really wanted one of these but couldn't justify that many heavy flannels with the mustard buzzard dropping this season adding to the handful already in rotation.

                          Think it, be it.
