It really is, winds up looking pretty trim for a jacket of its technical ability.

      Think it, be it.

i think kenta or someone from the hachioji store told me they wear it to go snowboarding.. the jealousy on my face was unmissable..  😞

This jacket would be even greater for snowboarding if it had pit zip vents.

Just grabbed the last small and quite like it. The primary use aside from a warm winter jacket will be high altitude winter camping, and I wanted a jacket that will function but also look good. I'm curious about the fabric though. Pertex and eVent are competing brands, but both are stated. It appears to be eVent based on tags, but Pertex Shield is named in a few places. My impression is that IH switched from Pertex Shield to of of the event DV fabrics (my older IHJ-11, for example, has a Pertex Shield tag where this has the eVent waterproof tag). Am I misunderstanding something? Which specific eVent one is it this, btw?

              Cheesing it up:

It's eVent @cander49. We mention so in the description but didn't update the forum accordingly. I imagine the previous iteration would've been Pertex. Apologies for any confusion!

Cool, thanks. It looks like the fabric section online still says Pertex, btw.

That's since been updated. Great fit mate! Hope it keeps you warm. I can still recall Giles looking particularly smug in minus 10 last year in NYC whilst I struggled in a deck jacket.

Brought it out to Aspen this past weekend. I decided to see how it would handle in a hike up Highland Peak (12392' / 3777 meters) at Aspen Highlands. I had to unzip pretty quickly, but I didn't feel nearly as sweaty as I would have in older down jackets. That said, I felt very sufficiently warm in cold temps with just a t-shirt, though I doubt I had anything below 10 F / -12 C, so it wasn't really all that cold.

Everyone hiking up hoping for first turns (you can see the looooong line way up there):

I was chatting to a customer who has one yesterday.  What he said is remarkable about it, is that when it is severely cold, it does it's job, but when it is cool/warm you do not overheat whilst wearing it.  This guy has had every brand of high end outdoor gear there is, in his opinion, this jacket has no equal…..Floridian heat may be pushing the boundaries though.......

Great info G - I’ll see how the first few days of really chilly weather get. What’s weird is the humidity plays such a huge part for us - 45F with 85% humidity can be bone chilling..

Any sizing advice on this one? I wear XXL in UHF, maybe a little on the snug side with XXL. Ive checked the measurements on the jacket and i dont know how to compensate for all the insulation the jacket has.
