And if you see the damage to the 200-year-old cills on the main house, you'd understand why I'm not at all bothered.  A house is a handmade thing, it can never be perfect, I for one celebrate its idiosyncrasies…..

They are what are called posijoists.

Thanks Clint, I'm hoping I can get it waterproof (at least the roof- possibly not the window or doors, but I can bodge that with tarps in the short term) within the next 3 weeks.  Then I can get the floor liquid screeded, that takes ages to dry enough to be able to lay tiles, so it is on the critical path…..

If it is any consolation, I applied for permits about a year ago......(I'm really ignoring a lot of what I got permission for, but I am confident that I am doing it better than what I have permission for)..... ::) ???

I once had to 'straddle' a concrete paving slab at ~70mph on the outside lane of a motorway (Freeway), fortunately I didn't hit it. A few people a few hundred meters down the road where not quite so lucky given the resultant destruction I saw.
