IHSH-203-GRN - Ultra Heavy Small Block Check Western Shirt in Green
-
I feel your problem. I would prefer the overall fit in M on most shirts but they tend to feel to restrictive and slightly uncomfortable in the shoulder/chest area. I often end up sizing up to L because i rather like to feel comfy, even if that means a slightly loose and less trim look. In my experience arms and body shrink a bit after washing, mostly lengthwise, never had problems with too long arms.

@ragefurymaxx I'd say you're borderline. It looks great on you, but at the same time I can see it is a little snug. You can definitely rock it as is, but for me, the question is, are you going to wear it? I might buy a thing like it but be a little unhappy with an aspect of it so it gets passed over when I get dressed. This is dumb.
If that is the case I'd make an effort to return it/swap it. Flipping it in the Marketplace on here is an option also. A new, popular shirt in a popular size should sell quickly and as it is still has tags you shouldn't have to mark it down in price too much.
As far as washing goes, 30C, low spin and air dry only will mean it won't shrink. Warmer than that, any spin or tumble drying will shrink it. In this case I'd say it would be too small for you after shrinkage so you'll have to be careful…

+1 with Reuben's washing recommendations. I have issues with body length, so any shrinkage would kill my UHFs. That being said, I actually was with no spin or hand wash and hang dry with no issues whatsoever in terms of shrinkage.
I also tend to wash my UHFs only 2-3xs per year. Usually at the beginning of the FW season, once in the middle, and once at the end. I am blessed with many UHFs though so each one doesn't get a ton of wear and hence needs less washing.
IMHO, you should return. It doesn't look comfortable to wear and you could use the $$$ toward another UHF that would fit better. You could always size up to XXL in another UHF and shrink to accommodate for sleeve length issues. Plus, in my experience, you will likely find this item on grailed/ebay/IH Marketplace sometime in the future (probably at a decent discount!) and be very happy you held out for a more comfortable size.
Good luck dude!

My 2 cents on fitting: not sure = not keeping

Unlike in every other situation in which someone asks for a fit critique, this time I think the shirt is too tight in the shoulders and chest. The sleeve length and body length look good.
I would recommend that you return it and get a work shirt instead. The westerns work best on skinny people while the work shirts are better for those with a broader chest like yourself.
I've noticed a small amount shrinkage on the UHFs, even when washing them at 30deg, but most in the arm length.

That's a good suggestion by @DrPat, @ragefurymaxx. The workshirt cut might be your best option.

Ahh, didn't think about sleeves. Think 1/2 inch longer would be too much?
I think it might be but there's only one way to find out. Fit is very subjective so only you will know what's best for you at the end of the day but that's just my two cents.
-
So I got an XXL in the red – definitely better across the shoulders/chest. I have much more mobility. It's not as slim around my waist but I think it still looks ok. Sleeves too long or I can pull it off?
Thanks all for your input! Truly appreciate it!

The fit on the xxl is much better [emoji106] I think the sleeves are fine. A hot wash would definitely take a half inch off the sleeves easily as well as in the chest and length, if that’s what you’re looking for

Looks pretty much spot on to me - nice catch!

Anyone live in Switzerland that could buy a shirt and ship it to the USA? Found a vendor with a UHF-203-GRN XXL but they won't ship to the USA.

It will be a snap that we can add to lighter weight shirts, so the equivalent of these:
