Received my pair a few days ago. After a cold soak and wash the fit is almost there. Will wear for a few days before I give it a hot soak for a little more shrinkage. Big thank you to Adam for all the help

Looks good so far, and I think you’re on the right track with wearing it for a few days and then giving it a hot soak (I’d go ahead and give it a hot wash actually just to be sure you get all the shrinkage out of them). After that, just wear the shit out of them and they’ll be awesome in no time.

I would think you’d want to do the hot wash before the hemming,in case they shrink in the wash.

Hi guys, would you say to size up or down from the 555-01? Do they have an easier break in than the 25oz denim?
                          Thanks

The break in on the UHR is easier than with the 25oz in my experience.

Sizing is hard to think about like that. The 777 and 555 are different cuts and the 21oz and UHR denims behave very differently. The waist of a pair of 21oz jeans will stretch an inch easily, probably more, from starting measurements where as the waist of a UHR pair would probably end up around the published measurements after shrinkage and subsequent stretch.

If you take published measurements of the 777-UHR, W33 as an example, my guess is you’d have around a 34.5” after shrinkage and a couple of weeks wear. The W33 555-01 would end up around 36”, possibly more if put under a lot of stress.

Thanks! Yes I’m thinking the same. Will probably be better slightly big before soaking. Too small is horrible and slightly bigger is often much appreciated with heavyweight denim! 😬

                                  Are your 555 fairly  loose?

Yes, they are. I think it‘s due to the difference of the cut as neph93 wrote.
The 555 has a much higher rise which ended up to big for me after some wear and stretch.

555 has a higher rise and roomier top block for sure.
