@1981FXe, maybe a dumb question, but you mention pulling in the pockets in your last post.  What exactly did you do?
Is this just a temporary demonstration of what's going on and you really havent "solved the problem" permanently yet?

Seems like the pockets and their stiffness should relax over time to drape more like what is shown in the 2nd picture.

I just pinched them together for the pic with my hand.

Having now received a pair of 666 in 33W which fit perfect. I think these 634 are just the wrong size for me. I notice the pockets are about in line with the belt loops on both the 666 and 634 and there’s no ballooning at all on the 666. I should’ve got the 33W. They were out at the time and it was my first pair of IH.

No big deal as the 666 are absolutely brilliant but at least I’ve got a 34W if the beer/exercise ratio drops significantly.

They’re looking much better. Kudos to you for sticking with them so long. Not sure if it’s been mentioned (or if it’s sacrilege), but you could take them to a tailor.

Thanks yeah it’s not a bad idea.

I was considering dropping them at Soldier Blue to get them altered but although they’d do a great job it would be pricey. I’m so pleased with the 666 also that I’m gonna leave the 634 as they are.

Didn’t think I’d have a pair of £300 beater jeans but here we are.

If you treat ‘em like you hate ‘em, this pair will quickly become your favorite. Beat up IH denim is the best.

The 634 has been the trickiest pair of IH for me to nail, which has been frustrating because I love the leg opening. But all the trickiness has come in the top block — I’ve bought a pair in 33 that I could barely get on, only to swap for a 34 that’d fall right off almost. When I have gotten it nailed though, it’s an amazing fit.

I’m almost dead on your same height and weight, albeit with slightly bigger thighs, and I’m a 33 in the 634UHR. I think you just got a size too big. They don’t fit badly, but I do think a lot of the frustration you had at the beginning would’ve been mostly taken care of with a size down.

Like others have said, they’re definitely wearable but you could always flip em and eventually get a smaller size if it’s still driving you crazy.

Thanks both yeah I’ll definitely keep wearing them.

I tend to just wear one pair hard then rotate as they become fairly worn so the 666 will be the focus for a few months.

I’m a fan of high contrast fades and my legs are too skinny really to get anything but vintage style wear on the 634. They’re also more comfortable on the motorcycles with the extra legroom.

You’ll still get some great fades with those 634s. The honeycombs will be more vertically spread out with the wider legs. The biggest thing I’ve learned with the UHR is that it’s a fucking quick fading denim. I spilled some coffee on mine and had to give em a wash sooner than I wanted, and I noticed that while the worn areas definitely brightened, the dark areas also lightened more than other IH denims I’ve had. So, my big takeaway was that for more contrast, wait longer between washes on these.

I think they still look amazing with more regular washes, though. Just more vintage.

You could also <<gasp>> put them in the dryer.  Contrary to what some might have you believe, they won’t explode. </gasp>

That’s what I would do. Hot soak, then hot wash, no spin, then tumble dry hot.
