      @GreatDenimFan Maybe this helps: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/content/our-cuts-jeans

      OUR CUTS
Over the years, we’ve developed a range of jeans and other pants to suit different body shapes and to work with your individual choice of style. We started with our original ‘signature’ straight cut, and now include bootcut, slim, super-slim and tapered silhouettes. None of our cuts is extreme, but rather we have developed a classic range of great-looking jeans and pants, beautifully constructed from superb Japanese denim and other fabrics.

      STRAIGHT
This includes any jean with the 634 model number, which is where it all started for Iron Heart, so we consider the 634 to be our ‘signature’ cut. Loosely based on a 1966 Levi’s 501, it is a straight cut jean with a medium rise and slight taper from knee to hem. Other straight cuts include our 1955 jeans, loosely based on a 1955 Levi’s 501 cut with a higher rise and a fuller top block than the 634, and a selection of chinos and work pants.

      SLIM
Our slim cuts include any jean with the 666 model number, a slim straight cut jean, a little slimmer all the way through the profile than the 634, but with a similar rise. We call the 666 a ‘grown up slim cut’. Also included are our 777 jeans which are slightly more tapered than the 666 cut (the 777 cut is also included under tapered cuts) and our slim cut 721 model chinos.

      SUPER SLIM
Includes any jean with 555 in the model number. These jeans are a high rise slim jean. They have a higher rise than the 634 and are quite a lot slimmer all the way through the profile. They look great on larger people who want a slim look below the knee.

      SLIM TAPERED
Any jean with 777 model number. The 777 cut is our “slim tapered” jean, similar to the 666 cut but slightly more tapered. Other tapered pants include our slim tapered 721 model chinos and relaxed tapered cargo pants, the IHDR-502.

      RELAXED TAPERED CUT
Includes any jean with the 888 model number. Our relaxed tapered cut was introduced to provide extra room in the top block and thigh whilst allowing a flattering, slim silhouette to be retained. Featuring taper from below the knee to the hem.

Per my experience in seasons past (and due to Alex’s response in the beige color thread), as soon as there are rumblings from Japan, they will post the updates.

I know it sucks waiting when the guesstimate release dates have delays. Especially with these, which for me have been probably the hardest piece to wait for that I can remember (on par with waiting for my very first UHF to drop).

As G has affectionately (I assume there’s some degree of affection and not all irritation :D) told me and countless others: IWHWIH…..but I hope it happens soon!

Does anyone have any feel for the level of non-stretchiness of these compared to the 12oz whipcord.  The waist on my much-loved 720s comes in at 34.5 which combines unhappily with my natural indecisiveness 😃

@ARNC we in the same boat, brother! Smaller waist = smaller hem, which is what i'd prefer….larger waist = safer bet on the comfort.

By all accounts, this fabric isn't gonna give...so getting into the comfort zone is probably the best course of action for me.

Similar stretch to the whipcord and cord AKA none. Do not undersize these—you will be uncomfortable. I have some with a snug waist, and by then end of the day I have to unbutton them. The roomy ones I could happily sleep in. Do yourself a favor and go for the size up. Trust.

Thanks Anne ( @sabergirl ), your comment was extremely well timed.

I have been measuring and remeasuring my pair from the last run along with my snug 463s trying to make a decision.

Both are waist size 34s (my usual IH size), but the cords had a button malfunction (aka I tried to manually stretch so I could button the waist button and tore the button out of the fabric). That said it when I had repaired, they were able to reposition the button to give me some more breathing room and actually button up all the way. All said and done, they are measuring at 35 on the dot and while I can wear them with relative ease, they are snug and do not give no matter how many times I’ve worn them (30–50 ish wears).

My 463s are coming in at around 34, and while I do wrestle to button the top button, they tend to not give me the same bite in the middle as the cords at the end of the day despite being almost an inch smaller in the waist.

So I think it’s important to note that not only is the corduroy not going to give you stretch, but it is also likely thicker in the waist than denim, so while it may measure bigger, it feels tighter (kinda like blanket or quilt lined shackets).

So my dilemma, and this comes out of their being a size 35, do I go with 35 or 36…..my standard 34 is an absolute no go for sure given they are coming right in at 34 noting how tight the originals were and they also measured right at 34.

35s are coming in right where my original pair got to after the button repair and how I’m wearing now - tight but wearable with maybe tshirt or thermal tucked in…. I don’t think I could button if I layered a tee and thermal and tried to tuck under a flannel.

36s seem like the most reasonable choice given the sizing points above but I’ve been afraid a 36 (measuring in the waist right at 36) with a full extra inch will just be too much. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a good fit with and IH pant/jeans in 36…it’s been strictly 34 for years (I even went 33 on a pair of 634UHRs last year). And I’ve definitely had jeans that were just too big in the waist and even with hot washes and belts they just seem too big. But maybe with the texture and weight of corduroy it won’t feel as loose in the waist.

So I have been back and forth and back and forth on which size to go with since they posted the measurements. It’s been an existential crisis over here this afternoon  😃 😃

But, I feel like Anne just sealed it for me. As much as a 36 just intuitively feels wrong, the measurements and collective experience here are just telling me that’s the way to go. And I have always told myself if another pair of the original run came up in a 36 that I’d grab in a heartbeat. I don’t think I’m gonna want these to feel tight out of the bag. A bit snug, sure, but tight is going to likely spell trouble as these won’t give and stretch like denim or other cotton fabrics.

Thanks for listening to my sizing rant here and Anne thanks for the feedback on your experience…..I feel like I can order less anxiously on Monday

You won’t be satisfied until you wear Iron Heart.
