Here’s my 888 XHS. Finally back at work and getting to wear them. Bought em at the beginning of summer and it quickly got too hot. Been a solid couple weeks of wear now. Freakin love em. Sizing em down as low as possible has always worked well for me.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

Hi all !  I'm new to the forum, my name is Martin, 42 years old, I'm a baker in France.
Yesterday I received my first IH jeans, an 888 25oz, what a monster!
I am 1.73m ( 5'8 ) tall and I weigh 72kg (159lbs), after a long hesitation I chose a size 31. I manage to close the button quite easily but I find the waist tight.  On the other hand, I am comfortable in the butt and thighs.
What do you think, should I change it to a size 32?

@tinmar welcome to the forum mate, nice place to start with the 25oz!

They look good to me, I personally would not recommend sizing up. Don't be alarmed when you wash/soak them, they will tighten up but they will stretch back out and once you've worn them in, become the comfiest jeans you own!

The devil is in the detail..

@tinmar For your first pair, you’ve done an excellent job regarding fit.  Don’t size up…

@tinmar If you've managed to get into the jeans, tackled the buttons and they are tight in the waist then you've made it as the denim will relax a bit over time. Enjoy and welcome to the forum  🙂

@tinmar welcome bro!! That for looks great!! As mentioned, a soak/ wash will tighten em up just a touch and then the real fun begins!!! Best denim I’ve ever owned!!

At the end of the day regardless of how good we all think the jeans fit you,and how good we think they look on you,if you’re not comfortable your not going to wear them. May be there’s another pair of 31s with a slightly bigger waist that you’d be more comfortable with. Just a thought.

Anyone put these in a dryer? How does that work out?
I’m tempted because these things take long to dry and I don’t know where to hang them.

I don't have the 888 cut in XHS,but I put all my other XHS denim in the drier all the time. The denim tightens up a little bit,but not unwearable. Like if you had a big meal.

I put all my jeans in the dryer. They’ll be fine. As long as you can tolerate a tightening of 1/4” or so that will stretch back out in half a day, you’ll be fine.

I'm always nervous throwing them into the dryer, but I have a lot of sunshine in California to dry them quickly.

Are you guys turning them inside out before tossing them in the dryer?

If they were inside out during the wash it’s kind of hard to turn XHS back out when they’re still wet.

I leave them inside out until they’re dry. Though some shrinkage happens in the dryer, I’m pretty sure indigo loss will all happen in the wash. Hence why they’re inside out and soaked through before the go in there.

Giving my 634s-a a break and back to wearing these. They don’t fit that bad as long as I’m wearing a belt.

The knees are super faded for some reason. I’m guessing dragging them on carpet whoops..

Question for the 25 oz wearers.  I have a pair of 888S-21 that fit perfect, but if the temperature dips below 40 degrees fahrenheit they aren't warm enough.  I am thinking of getting a pair of 888S in 25oz for the colder temperatures in Tennessee.  Is there a material difference in warmth between the 21oz and 25oz that would merit buying a new pair just for winter?

@Nashville60 In my opinion, yes.  I wear 16oz-Slubs and 18oz vintage during the summer, 21oz in the spring and fall, and 25oz in the winter.  The best pants I have for really cold and windy days are the whipcord cargos.
