Ultra Heavy Happy Hour (IHF Virtual Gatherings) Thread

Great that this is getting going again - thanks @scooter for stepping in.
I hope to make it for a bit, although my timing is unpredictable (I have potentially difficult family stuff earlier in the day). Look forward to catching up with the regulars, if I can, and hopefully some fresh faces too.

2am. I'll try my best.

I’m usually up early. I’ll try to jump in before work if i decide to go in…
-
Serial killers, @scooter. You forgot to mention the serial killers.
No forgetting. Just conveniently omitted…
On the subject, though. Netflix has a new series starting tonight. It's about Dahmer. There was a poll done locally, and viewers here are not too enthused about reliving the creepiness...
I know I won't be watching....

I watched the trailer today [emoji38] I’m going to read
some reviews before I decide if I will watch it. -

I watched episode one before I went to bed last night. Not a great plan

I’m prepared for deeply unpleasant, and won’t deny a fascination for the subject material, but I’m concerned regarding how speculative it might be. Was it trashy @Alex ?
I'm, not super familiar with the story, and am quite happy to remain that way whilst I watch, so can't comment of the speculative nature of it, but in terms of a production I thought it was pretty well done and acted.

It is fascinating and awful. Without going into detail, he is a very sad, pathetic figure. Almost tragic if he wasn’t so absolutely vile in his actions. There will always be conflicts of interests involved in dramatising the life of any serial killer, in this case, his choice of victims and the environment that he hunted, in only serve to make this even more challenging to do in a balanced fashion.

I grew up less than 2 miles from his grandmother's house, where a couple of his early victims met their demise. I was a teen when he lived there. In 1982 he was arrested for indecent exposure at the Wisconsin State Fair, which was a block away from my home. I was 13, at the time. The story literally hits too close to home for me…
