Having worn earlier, I can confirm the accuracy of 'super soft 100% merino wool' those more daring could get away without an undergarment. Depends on your chafing threshold I suppose
Oh I’m sure they are wonderful. I have lots of merino wool undershirts. I was thinking more of avoiding bodily odours sitting in the fabric.

A dilemma ( not over buying I’m buy it it) over sizing. I pretty much only have westerns which I am increasingly an xl in - recent purchase of the ombré red uhf and hickory stripe are both good fits close in xl. When I compare the sizing other than length / sleeve length a bit on the shoulders they track more to large in this. The agony of indecision this is producing! Is anyone else having this or should I be embracing the work xl?

I opted to go for the L because of the work style. I don’t own an IH western but I have another brand that measures equal to the Large, as far as P2P and opening. So I’m hoping this fits similar with a little more room because of the styling. Plus I’ve still got that holiday weight on lol

I take XL in most IH shirts included UHF’s and went for an L in the grey version of these.
The measurements match very well with my IHSH-163 which is a woollen work/military style shirt.
These are stitched up big to function as CPO’s (over other shirts, hoodies etc). I’ll be using it over a tee or buttoned like a regular shirt.
As to length, work shirts are generally shorter than westerns.

Thank you neph - the push I needed large it is! I will be using it in a similar way to you so I think this will work - I’m getting thinner by the second it seems bearing in mind I bought my first iron heart shirt just under a year ago in xxl (western to be fair) but xl in western now the way to go for me and this stacks up well
