There's always the option of treating the fabric yourself with either an oil, wax, or silicone based water repellent.

If you wax or oil it, be aware that you will most likely get some transfer that’s much messier than indigo.  I remember reading about a guy who wore his waxed jacket in his warm car.

I’m an XL in shirts and wear an L in these, if that helps. I can get a tee and a shirt underneath.

Love mine. Haraki-san’s cut is perfect, slightly tailored which together with the sateen in black makes it a very sharp jacket given its utilitarian military origins.

Finally got my first piece of IH outerwear and I am totally pleased. I sized down from my usual large and the fit is perfect (thanks @neph93 ). The sateen is substantial feeling and beautiful. This jacket will get tons of wear where I live. Really just love it!

Excellent fit, and beautifully paired with the olive serge. It really is a great weight and design.

I've been after a proper, well-built field jacket for a few years. This one or the olive colorway seems to fit the bill nicely. Though it looks like I missed this year's run. Any chance of a restock in the near future?

Has this jacket ever been made in a different kind of cotton fabric (other than the oiled version)? Just asking out of curiosity because I got a M65 some years ago at a retailer and the fabric looks slightly different than the pictures, almost like a plain weave. I may be mistaken of course.
