      @dinobarnesberlin  They definitely still have that new IH crispiness, it’s been a while since I’ve had a new pair of 21oz but these seem to be a little crispier than I remember the normal 21oz being. Could just be me misremembering. The stretch is noticeable, but not THAT noticeable. Calling them “stretch jeans” would be pushing it really, although I will continue to do so.  😃

      Thanks @steelworker they’re a pain in my ass sometimes but I love them to death.  😉

        Good stuff! Totally agree about the stretch. Just enough to make a difference.

          These look pretty nice. I like the unobtrusive (learned a new word today :)) stacks. Which size did you get?

          why so serious?

            Another great review:) They look really great and can imagine even just a bit of stretch would make things nice.
            And totally agree with @daynym –-youve got some good looking stacking going on right off the bat--can only get better with time 😎

              @daynym size 33 which is technically a size larger than my current size but the measurements were perfect.

                    Just an initial impression of these, having bought a pair in the sale last week;

                    I bought a pair of 777S-21od in in September last year and have got on with them very well - they have taken regular wear until recently to fully break-in and be properly comfortable diving around after kids and sitting at my desk (and I've no doubt they are only just getting into their stride).

                    I bought the SST in virtually the same dimensions (though as has been mentioned above, technically a size up on the OD's). Straight out of the (paper) bag these are equally as comfy and I'm enjoying the stretch. Contrary to what others have written about the denim I find the stretch really quite noticeable. That's maybe just the 777 cut and where I'm needing them to stretch, though.

                    Like-for-like, the SST seems to be easier to just get in, and go.

                    I'm no purist, so the 2% inclusion doesn't bother me at all and it seems to sit well with the IH approach. It'll be interesting to see how successful the SST is and if it makes it to other denims. That said, there's hopefully some XHS/UHR in my future somewhere too, though!

                      Interesting thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

                      Something has always put me off the stretch denim and I think you nailed it: it’s the purist in me, being fussy about such things. Yet deep down, I know the stretch denim is probably far more practical and comfortable. I’d like to give them a chance one day.

                            Was not planning on buying these at all but when the sale came I knew it was easier to justify a pair I wasn't quite sure of and my current pair needs a crotch repair so I had to decide fast.
                            Very happy with these. Still stiff. When pulling on the denim you can see it flex, if you are paying attention and looking for it. When putting them on they feel like every other pair. Crispy, weird creases, etc. It's when you squat that you feel a little give.

                                I want to make it clear that I do NOT need a new pair of jeans.  I'm just asking for a friend 😃

                                The 888 is my cut.  When choosing my size on the 888, the bottleneck for sizing down isn't my waist, but my thighs.  To give you an idea of where my jeans settle, my fairly worn-in 888 XHSib have a 12.25" thigh.  With that in mind, how narrow of a thigh could I start with on the 777-SST, taking into account standard denim stretch over time and the stretchiness of this new fabric?  Could I go down to a thigh size of, say, 11.7" in these?  Would those stretch to 12.25"?

                                Sorry if this has already been asked and answered!

                                  I feel like the polyurethane doesn’t really give more than about a quarter inch worth of stretch for movement. My 888 has a comparable thigh measurement to what I would already wear. It’s a nice close fit when at rest. The difference is when I move, it’s way easier.

                                  I know that’s not really the precise answer you’re looking for. But what I’m getting at is that I think it wouldn’t be that comfortable to rely on this fabric to get a “skinny” fit.

                                    I saw that you picked these up in the 888 cut.  Did you size down in them or stick with your usual 888 size?

                                      Usual size. Which is at this point 38. I have worn a 36 in 888s in the past, and I think those would probably fit because of the stretch, but wouldn’t be comfortable.

                                            @Paul9221:

                                            Could I go down to a thigh size of, say, 11.7" in these?  Would those stretch to 12.25"?

                                            Half an inch is probably too big of an ask. I agree with @sabergirl that the jean doesn’t have that much stretch in them initially. You’ll end up with sausage thighs for the first few months.

                                            The thing with this denim is that the stretch from the twill and the stretch from the polyeurathane doesn’t stack. You get the polyeurathane stretch first, making the denim more comfortable and wearable, while the more permanent twill stretch kicks in after wear and washing, when the polyeurathane starts to lose its elasticity.

                                            One thing to consider it sizing up in the 777. I would size one or two up on the 777 compared to the 888 in order to tackle the lower rise of the 777. This may give you the extra thigh space you need.
